March Principal's Letter
Dear Prairie Point Families:
This letter is not an easy one for me to write. I need to share with you that Monday, March 14th I was approved by the School District 308 Board of Education as the district’s new Director of Professional Development and Training. I will begin my new position at the district office on July 1, 2016.
I have enjoyed immensely my time as Principal at Prairie Point Elementary. Working with the students, staff, and families of this community has been a source of joy for me since 2008. Prairie Point is a special place because of your passion, dedication, and support. I am so proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff and I will be excited to watch this school continue to grow and thrive in a new capacity.
I am forever appreciative of the support you have shown me over the years. Many of you I met in my very earliest days as a new Principal and it’s been a pleasure to watch your families grow and change. Your children are absolutely amazing - thank you for allowing me the chance to know and serve them. It is these relationships that make it so hard to leave.
You will be receiving a survey in the coming days from SD308 asking for your input regarding the characteristics and qualities that you desire in a new principal. Your feedback will be a critical component of the search for a new leader for your school. I encourage you to take the time to share your thoughts.
There are still several months of school ahead of us, with a lot to still accomplish this year. I will continue to serve you and your children during this time and will work with the new Principal to ensure a smooth transition into next school year.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with questions or feedback. We still have a lot of work to do together.
Sincerely,
Dr. Heidi Podjasek, Principal
Home & School President's letter
Happy March! So far, this has been a great month. Let's hope Mother Nature continues to spoil us!
We had three big events recently and I'd like to thank the committee chairs and volunteers. First, our Annual Fun Fair. What an amazing event! We had so many families come and play, eat, visit and enjoy the night. Our committee chairs put in so much work planning this event. We cannot thank them enough. And we had many parents, Prairie Point staff, high school students and some junior high students volunteer their time to run the stations. This event cannot happen without the help of so many. Your time is greatly appreciated.
Second, we held our Annual Variety Show. There is so much talent in this school!! A huge thank you to the committee and volunteers for managing such an exciting night.
Third, our annual Mornings with Mom was last Friday. This is always a well-attended event. Our Father's Forum crew put together another great morning for moms and students. Thank you.
We have a few more fun things planned before the year is up. Please keep checking the Panther Press each week for information, as well as your students' Thursday folders.
Have a wonderful Spring Break!!

News from the LRC
Thank you to Nolan Hutchings who donated a book to our LRC in celebration of his birthday!
Prairie Point's used Book Sale
The LRC will hold a Children’s Used Book Sale during National Library Week, April 11-15. We are accepting donations from now through Friday, April 8th. Donation boxes are located in the main hallway, and in the LRC. During the sale, students will be able to purchase books during their regular library class time. The price of each book will be $1.
Please take advantage of this opportunity to clear out those bookshelves at home. Proceeds will benefit the LRC and a charitable organization (to be determined). If you have any questions, please email me at cpatterson@sd308.org. Thank you for your support!
P.E. Reminder
Dear Parents,
The P.E. Department would like to remind you to provide your child with a pair of gym shoes to be left at school. It's also helpful if all students are able to tie their shoes.
THANK YOU!
