From Mrs. Rosauer...
On a rainy, snowy morning on the 23rd of January, the kindergarten, first and second graders spent time at the Phelps Pavilion Museum. They were able to explore a farm, dinosaurs, and hands on building, acting, and drawing. Milking a cow was a big hit, along with stocking a vegetable stand. In another room they built a room with plastic dividers, used different props to sing and dance on a stage, and played with hand puppets using a puppet stage. They learned multiple dinosaur facts. Did you know the stegosaurus was the size of seventeen elephants? How many of you know what scat or coprolite is? Well all our little ones just thought it was gross! It’s no fun to just walk down a set of stairs. It was way more fun to go down a tunnel to the next floor to explore the activities on the lower level. Great way to spend a winter morning when it is hard to get outside and play. You can check out Phelps Pavilion as a family on any given weekend.
ESA Important Next Step
All families receiving ESA funding from the State this year MUST to go back on the Odyssey site and accept the funding for the 2nd semester as soon as possible. Please have this completed by Wednesday, January 31. You simply need to confirm the payment.
If you have any questions, please let Mr. Hogan know thogan@boscocatholic.org Thanks for your immediate attention to this matter.
Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week is coming, and we can't wait to celebrate everything that makes us special!
Here at BCSS, we are grateful for our parish communities. On the weekend of Jan. 27/28, we want families and staff to “Pack Your Parish!” for our kick-off event. We ask each family who attends weekend Mass to take one bulletin, write their name(s) on it, and return it to school. Let's see which unit has the highest percentage packing our parishes! Make plans to start CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK with other families in prayer.
K-8 students each received an invitation to hand out for our VIP Gathering on Wednesday. Here is a digital version if you need one.
Mass times:
Saturday at 4 PM - Immaculate Conception, Gilbertville
Saturday at 5:30 PM- St. Joseph, Raymond
Sunday at 8 AM - Immaculate Conception, Gilbertville
Sunday at 10 AM - Immaculate Conception, Gilbertville (treats will be served after Mass)
From Our Middle Schoolers...
Right now there are four winter sports that middle schoolers can participate in. They are girls basketball, boys basketball, wrestling, and archery. This weekend Bosco is hosting an archery tournament. There will be around ten different schools at the tournament. There are almost 80 middle school and elementary students on the archery team. The girls basketball team has had a rough year, but they have been doing their best. There are seven middle school girls out for basketball. The boys basketball team has 12 players on their team. The boys basketball team has a game at Dunkerton on 1-26-24. The middle school wrestling team finished their season a couple weeks ago. Next year JH will be doing split seasons. Girls basketball and wrestling will be done before Christmas. Boys basketball will start after Christmas break or when the other seasons are over.

Middle School General Music News
The middle school general music classes are currently working towards their one and only concert of the school year. This concert is on Wednesday, March 20 at 6pm in the Don Bosco Gym. The concert is part of their performance grade, so all students are required to attend. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 20!
I am also asking for all middle school students to bring a fully pumped up basketball, clearly marked with their name, to school on Mondays between now and March 20 to use in class. If you do not have a basketball, that is okay. Do not go out and buy one! We can use the basketballs at school, but the school does not have enough for all of the middle school students.
Thank you!
