April Belle River Elementary Newsletter
Belle River Sailors are safe, respectful, kind, and good friends!
March was a month full of reading! We enjoyed celebrating March is Reading Month by sharing Ralph S. Mouse as a whole school. All students received a copy of the book to enjoy with their families throughout the month. We had daily comprehension questions and prizes too. We kicked off the month by sharing the video of Ralph and his Motorcycle and we wrapped up the month by sharing the video of Ralph S. Mouse! We hope you enjoyed this fun book with your families. A special thank you to our PTO for providing the prizes too.
We wrapped up our third marking period just as we approached Spring Break. The M-Step and K-2 Benchmark Assessments will begin as we return. Our 5th graders will begin their testing the Wednesday we return after Spring Break. Teachers will keep you posted on when the different grade levels will be testing and which subjects. Our students are very fortunate this year, as we will be the only building solely testing on Chromebooks within their own classrooms. This will help relieve many scheduling conflicts as well as help our students feel comfortable and relaxed while testing in their own classrooms on devices they are very familiar and experienced with using. It will continue to be a very busy time of year for academic growth and learning for all of our students. We continue to appreciate your support at home as we work hard to meet the needs of all learners!

TITLE ONE STEAM NIGHT WAS A HUGE HIT WITH BELLE RIVER FAMILIES!
This year we had another special addition to our event. Mr. Fregetto set up a table in the gym with his high school engineering students to demonstrate their projects too. This was a big hit with our younger learners. Thank you Mr. Fregetto and students.
Then it was time for 2 different STEAM challenges for each family. We had 10 different challenge choices that included Levitating Ping Pong Ball, Hold the Dough, Easter Egg Catapult, Send It Soaring, Hoop Glider, Egg Drop, Design a Zip Line, Build the Longest Chain, Pretzel Tower, and Coding with Dot and Dash. Families spent a half hour in two different events using science, technology, engineering, art, math, and TEAMWORK to master the challenges assigned to them. We have a lot of determined, creative, and inventive students and families at Belle River!
The evening concluded with raffling off 4 donated bikes to our Belle River students. We hope everyone who attended this special event enjoyed this fun-filled family time!
