June 2021
For families with qualifying incomes, classified as essential workers, the state of Indiana can cover 80% of your child care costs for kids up to age 12. That even includes before-school and after-school care.

Many Hoosier families have either lost jobs or left the workforce due to COVID-19. From the job search to the interview, it takes time to find a job, and it’s even more difficult to do it with children at home to care for. To help, Indiana is providing temporary child care assistance so Hoosier parents can spend their time focusing on getting back to work. Families who qualify for On My Way PreK or CCDF financial support are also eligible job searching, participating in job training programs, interviewing, completing employment requirements and getting settled in their new job.

Getting Your Child Ready for the COVID-19 Vaccine
Children need protection from COVID-19 both for their health and the health of family and friends. New COVID-19 variants and more in-person activities mean the virus is still being transmitted, and kids are still getting sick.
Now that the COVID-19 vaccine is available to kids 12-years old and up, getting the vaccine is the best thing to do for your child's health.
Here's a checklist as you prepare for your child's COVID-19 vaccination.

13 Tips for Helping Anxious Kids Enjoy Summer Camp
Portraits of summer camp showcase sun-splashed children playing sports, swimming, and getting freckles. Not pictured is any sign of anxiety, a natural reaction to a new adventure and a several-week separation. All children experience a mixture of excitement and nervousness when summer camp approaches. Here are a few ideas, and some ways to engage with them as a family with songs from “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” that your child already knows and loves!
Yarn Resist Birch Trees
Using a resist technique for painting is a fun process which creates unique and intriguing results. This activity uses wrapped yarn to produce a linear pattern. Because we had recently been observing the black on white patterns of birch tree trunks, we used this process to create beautiful spring forests of birch trees. You can adapt this technique for almost any age, and extend it with endless variations. Click here for the basic steps.
