I Just Received an Email Stating My Child was Marked Absent...

The Main Office receives a number of calls each morning from parents who are upset after receiving an email from the LMS Attendance Office. In order to monitor the safety and security of our students, it is essential that the school follow up with any student who is marked absent.

Suggestions for students who are absent or tardy:

Please call the absentee line at (609) 671-5527 to report a child who will be absent from school or late signing on. This line is available to leave a message 24/7. You may also call Ms. L. North directly to report an absence or tardy, (609) 671-5520 x4802.

If you feel that you received the email in error, please contact Ms. North, (609) 671-5520 x4802 to discuss. Keep in mind that she is only reporting what teachers have marked in their class attendance. Many times students are a few minutes late to sign on to class. The teacher has already recorded the absence and is unable to change the attendance code until he/she is free. It is very important that the school make contact with the parents when the student is marked absent. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Family Book Night

The Fall Family Book Night is scheduled for mid-November. The virtual discussion will take place via Zoom and will focus on the historical fiction novel, Prairie Lotus by Linda Sue Park. The novel complements the work that is being done within the district with equity and inclusion.

Prairie Lotus is a powerful, touching, multilayered book about a girl determined to fit in and realize her dreams: getting an education, becoming a dressmaker in her father’s shop, and making at least one friend. Acclaimed, award-winning author Linda Sue Park has placed a young half-Asian girl, Hanna, in a small town in America’s heartland, in 1880. Hanna’s adjustment to her new surroundings, which primarily means negotiating the townspeople’s almost unanimous prejudice against Asians, is at the heart of the story. Narrated by Hanna, the novel has poignant moments yet sparkles with humor, introducing a captivating heroine whose wry, observant voice will resonate with readers. A sign -up form will be emailed as the date gets closer.
