Cool Cats Update
Week of November 6
Monday Motivation
What makes you happy? There are so many reasons to be
happy today. Your happiness is contagious. Give a smile to
your students today; it might be the only smile they receive
today. Take a minute and make a list of things that bring you
happiness. Do it even though you don’t need a list of things to
be happy. Simply decide to be happy and choose to be
happy. That’s all you need to start. The happiest people are
those who practice being happy. Give the gift of happiness to
those around you- your coworkers, your students, and your
family.

Parent Survey
You all are pretty amazing! I sent out a parent survey link on Friday to gather feedback from our families about the first 12 weeks of school. ALL responses have been so positive and YOU ARE THE REASON!! I love you all for the work you do and even though some days are more difficult than others, you still come to work with a smile and you encourage the members of your team and so many other SVES staff members. Thank you for keeping your spirits high, for always cheering the rest of us on and for always remembering that the culture of our school is so important. Here are all of the comments we have received so far:
- Everyone is always nice and helpful when I have been at the school. Smiling and chatting makes it seem you enjoy working with our kids.
- My child’s teacher is very observant of individual needs and makes great effort to get students what they need
- 2nd grade has been wonderful this year! We have loved all the 2nd grade teachers and can tell they work hard to make education fun and meaningful to my child! Ms. Michaels is always present and welcoming!
- All staff has been very welcoming everytime I enter the school. I believe SVES does a fantastic job getting the students engaged and they have fun while they learn.

APEX Fundraiser
We know that you spend tireless hours preparing to give your students an amazing and memorable year. SVES PTA has chosen APEX as their fundraiser to help raise money to purchase more Chromebooks and iPads. The Apex Mission beginning on November 14th is to serve you to the best of our ability. This information is your playbook to success.
Please watch the “Teacher Intro Video”: (pass: apexteam)
- On November 13th, we will meet the APEX team in the library after school for our Teacher Huddle. You will get your Playbook, Pledge kit, class poster, squad box and an APEX t-shirt.
- On November 14th, the APEX team will lead our Pep Rally at 1:45 pm. We will ALL wear our APEX t-shirt & jeans. JEANS DAY!!
- November 15 - November 30 are called Team Days. An APEX team member will come to your classroom for a lesson that will be about 8 minutes. You will be able to schedule your time with your APEX team member. Awards are also given daily to students and teams.
- Friday, December 1st is the actual Fun Run. I will share those times with you soon (forgot to bring home that piece of paper that listed the times).
Here are 5 ways you can be a Coach for your students:
- Excitement! Your excitement is the #1 factor to success in your class. Kids feed off of your energy. Encourage students, talk about the lessons/fit videos, high-five any Apex rep who comes to class! Be as creative as possible with decorating your classroom, class poster, desks, etc.
- Pep Rally: log in with your Code and help students write 10 people to ask on Kit
- Send out emails to parents with updates daily and encourage pledges.
- Remind the students every day at the end of school about the lessons and pledge challenges.
- Please come up with both a Team Name (i.e. Mrs. Johnson’s Jaguars, Ms. Cannon’s Cardinals, etc.) and fill in your Class Poster and prize level boxes on your poster—$20/lap. PTA is working on getting as many volunteers as possible to help you decorate your classroom door.
Where in the World are Kristen & Anna?
- Kristen will be off campus all day Wednesday.
- Anna will be off campus in the afternoon on Tuesday and all day Thursday.
