2022/2023 Student Registration Now Open!
ALL students returning to TVUSD for the 2022/2023 school year are required to fill out the Returning Student Registration packet in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
This is a MANDATORY process for all returning students. Any student who does not have a completed returning student registration packet in IC will not have access to a school schedule or classroom placement for the 22/23 school year.
Please note, if you have TVUSD students you will not be able to add a new, non-TVUSD sibling to your returning student registration packet. Any new student to TVUSD, TK-12, must be enrolled through CEC. It is a separate process. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to CEC for support.
RETURNING STUDENT REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
(This link has instructions in both English & Spanish)
Dear 6th grade parents
On Thursday, June 2nd, all sixth graders, who have met three very specific requirements, are invited to the annual 6th grade BBQ. First your child must have an average GPA of 2.0 or above over the last two semesters. Second, your child cannot have 12 or more demerits. Finally, your child must have returned all library books and handled all fees. These requirements must be met by no later than May 31st or your child will not be allowed to attend and will stay back and attend class. 6th grade textbooks are returned to the library on Wednesday May 25th.
The BBQ takes place at the park across the street. We organize games, kids can sign yearbooks, and a hot dog vendor comes with all kinds of food and treats to buy. It is a great day to celebrate your child’s 6th grade accomplishments. Please sign TWO copies of the permission slip AND TWO copies of the Hold Harmless slip. These four pages must be returned to your child’s Language Arts teacher by no later than Thursday May 26th. Please return the forms even if you are worried about meeting the GPA. It is better to get them in ahead of time, then to have to scramble at the last minute.
Each Language Arts class needs at least TWO parent volunteers. If you can join us, you would need to be here by 9:45 am and be able to stay until 12:25. You would meet at the front of the school by the flagpole by 9:45 am to help walk students across the street. You will not be in a classroom so you do not need to fill out any volunteer forms for this event. You will help us get students across the street and back and monitor at the park. We also need a parent or two who would be willing to organize a flag football game. We have all of the supplies but the flag football game can only happen if a parent agrees to referee. Please let your child’s ELA teacher know if you are willing to help with that and we will make sure to bring the equipment from our PE department. Thank you in advance to all who are volunteering. This event can’t happen without you!
The menu prices for the hot dog vendor are included on the back of this form. If your child wants a school lunch-- a sack lunch can be ordered ahead of that day. If you want to order that sack lunch for your child please email Pam Gonzales in the kitchen to let her know to prepare the lunch. Email at pgonzales@tvusd.k12.ca.us by no later than Thursday, May 26th so she has the food ordered. Please let her know your child’s name and that you are ordering the sack lunch for the BBQ. Students will just pick up the sack lunch in the cafeteria the morning of the event.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact your child’s Language Arts teacher.
Sincerely,
6th grade teachers
2022-2023 "Peer Buddy" Applications Now Available!
Hi DMS,
This message is for current 6th and 7th graders.
As some of you may know, we offer an Explore class called Peer Buddies. A Peer Buddy is assigned to help a student with moderate to severe disabilities increase involvement in DMS’s culture “One Heart One Mind.” Peer Buddies might assist their peers in a variety of ways, including making deliveries to the front office, working within small groups inside the classroom, or modeling middle school communication. The main objective is to create an inclusive environment that fosters friendships and participation!
If you would like to be a Peer Buddy for the 2022-2023 school year in place of your explore class, please stop by Mrs. Walton’s room (Room 302)or see your counselor to pick up an application. Spots fill up fast so it’s first come, first serve! Hope to see you soon!

Donations Needed!
We're looking for student incentives and need your help! If you have access to food certificates, sports equipment, or small gift items middle school students would enjoy (earbuds, water bottle stickers, etc) we could really use them! Not only do we enjoy giving out incentives during the school year to our students, we also have various summer programs that can benefit (6th-grade orientation, summer school, registration, and more).
If you're able to help, drop off any items to the front office between now and the last day of school. We greatly appreciate any and all help we can get!
