QR Codes Explained
A QR (or Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional bar code which can be read by a smart phone or other device equipped with a camera and a scanning app. QR codes may provide textual information, links to websites or videos, or other digital information. Find out more by watching this video: QR Codes Explained.
Let's try some QR activities!

A few more ideas...
Book Reviews
Using a site like croak.it, record your students reviewing their favorite books. Place a QR code with a link to the recording next to a picture of the student holding the book, or even place the QR code inside the book!
Oral Administration
Record passages from your assessments, using a tool like Record MP3. Create a QR code that links to each passage and paste the QR code directly into your assessment. Have students scan the code as they are testing.
Make Displays Interactive
Put QR codes around your room--place them on a map, in a photo, or on a timeline. One artist created a periodic table of the elements composed of QR codes!

Create a "Living" Museum
Record your students talking about an artifact, person, or project they have learned about or created. Place a QR code with a link to the recording near the item. (What a great idea for open house!)

Give Students an Answer Key
Once students have completed an assignment, let them scan a QR code to check their answers. This teacher used bottlecaps and QR codes to create a fun math game where students check their answers.

Create a Scavenger Hunt
Many educators have used QR codes to reveal clues as part of a scavenger hunt. Each code, once scanned, can direct students to the next code, or can give a clue to a larger puzzle.

Create Links to Frequently Visited Sites
Save time in the classroom by keeping a binder ring of QR codes handy.

Liven Up Your Warm-Ups
Post a QR code outside your door for students to scan as they walk in, or on your board or projector screen. The code might lead to an interesting image, an inspiring quote, or a thought-provoking question.

Save Paper!
Instead of printing out your homework assignment or handout, give out QR codes instead. For center work, link a QR code to instructions for the center. (For example, students rotating through PE stations might scan a QR code to see a video example of the exercise they'll be doing at each station.)

Create Your Own Audiobooks
Record yourself (or fluent readers in your classrooms) reading stories or books aloud. Create a QR code that links to the recording. Place the QR code in the book, and you have an instant listening center! (Check out the Belkin Rockstar-a great tool that allows for multiple listeners!)

Provide Incentives
Use QR codes as a reward! Have students scan a code to receive a coupon or motivational message.

Communicate With Parents
Instead of handing out a packet of paper, give students a QR code to scan. You might also use QR codes to send interactive forms to parents, or include one on your business card that links to your personal contact information.
