Region 15 CTE Weekly Update

July 13 - July 17, 2020

“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.” – J.K. Rowling

Depending on your school calendar, we are about at a month (give or take) before school starts. I am sure I am like you in thinking this would all be behind us by this point, however things did not head in that direction. Seems to be in the opposite direction. So with that said, its time to take a deep breath and turn attention to doing whatever we need to do to support our students (and you) when they come back in the fall.

I have included updates from TEA and UIL below. Don't hang onto them as set in stone, things are changing daily. There are still staff development opportunities this summer if you are utilizing iCEV curriculum and would like support in offering their online content to your students. We do have a couple of face to face sessions still on the calendar for specific industry based certifications and planning sessions.

I am waiting to hear from TCEA about a robotics challenge this year. I hope to know more after the TCEA board meets later in July. If we do not have an in-person contest this November we will put together a virtual contest if possible.

This year might look more like technical support via zoom and I hope some on campus visits. Please let me know what I can do to support your move back into the classroom. I am up at the ESC everyday and my desk phone is forwarded to my cell.

Be well,

Traci
