2nd Grade Superstars!
Mrs. Pollack - Week of June 6, 2016
This will be my last newsletter of the year! I hope you have found this weekly newsletter helpful and informative with both classroom and school events involving your child. Thank you for all of your home support this year!
Field Day News
Per Mr. Smith's email sent home on Wednesday, we know that many students like to have their shirts autographed by their classmates. The students will have the opportunity to do this before going outside. If you and your child(ren), do not wish to have his/her shirt signed, please have that conversation with them prior to the school day. The students will not be permitted to sign each other’s arms or skin.
Also, remember to place on sunscreen prior to coming to school, and bring in a water bottle with your child's name on it as well as a towel to sit on during our picnic lunch!
Monday 6/6 - Bring in your Show & Tell memory items in a bag.
Wednesday 6/8 - Please bring in a plastic sealable bag to bring your art basket supplies home.
Friday 6/10 - Please bring in your favorite board or card game, We will have fun playing them with friends to celebrate our last day together!
Report cards will be available on HAC, and your child will also be bringing home a paper copy on their last day of school.
What's New This Week?
This week we will be presenting our Research PowerPoint and practicing how to be effective speakers! Students will be learning how to project their voice, make eye contact with the audience, elaborate the information on their slides, and appropriate body language. This is such a fun way to commence our school year and demonstrate how your child is ready for 3rd grade!
Spelling Words of the Week
A big THANK YOU to parents for helping your child to practice and study their spelling words this year!
The Spelling City website will remain up and running over the summer should your child wish to continue practicing our word lists! Click here to go visit the Spelling City website for some fun practice: http://www.crsd.org/Page/16692
We will begin Topic 19 - Multiplication, and your child is very excited about learning this concept! We begin with demonstrating how repeated addition is multiplication, building arrays, multiplying in any order, and writing multiplication stories. Helping your child to practice basic multiplication facts over the summer will place them at an advantage for 3rd grade math!
Please continue to encourage your child to visit this website over the summer to help retain math skills. Thank you! www.firstinmath.com
