Wow! What an AMAZING first week we’ve had here at Ridgeway! We started our year off with a whole school gathering on the playground. We loved being able to incorporate parents and loved seeing those who were able to attend. We will plan to make this a yearly tradition!
It has been such a joy starting to get to know your kiddos. The energy inside the halls and classrooms at Ridgeway is positive, enthusiastic and contagious. We are so excited to have the best school year yet!
A few reminders/opportunities…
Parent pick up cards for this year are orange. If you have old parent pick up cards, feel free to discard them. If you need additional orange cards for your family, please give the office a call and we will get you more. If you do not have your card, even if we recognize you, we will ask for identification and check with the office to verify you are listed as a contact.
If your child is a parent drop off and needs to eat breakfast, please try to have them dropped off by 7:30. This allows them time to get breakfast, eat and still be in class on time. At 8:00 the kitchen needs to begin lunch preparation and breakfast will not be available after that point. If buses are late, we will make sure students have the option to get breakfast.
During arrival in the mornings, please drop your children off between the crosswalk sign and the corner of Sexton and Grand. Please pull up as far as you can before stopping to let your kiddos out.
Our wonderful nurse, Julie Roberts, will be sponsoring a running club a couple mornings a week from 7-7:20 this year. She is looking for a few parent volunteers. If you are interested, please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ridgeway 100 Year Celebration
We have had a wonderful week of learning! To help us prepare for next week, please talk/review a couple of things this weekend:
- Practice your child's lunch number. This helps tremendously with making sure they have enough time to eat.
- We use Class Dojo for communication and behavior incentives, you should have received an email with a link to join our classroom community. If not, let your child's homeroom teacher know.
Families, we would like to express our gratitude for the school supplies generously donated to our Unit. Thank you so much for your kind contribution.
Greetings from your PE, Art, Media, and Music Teachers
We are excited for a great year of learning together!
Mrs. Lillig- Art
Mrs. Timmerman- Media

Morning Library Open Beginning Next Week…
The Media Center will be open as an option for students before school between 7:20-7:40 every Tuesday-Friday until we reach capacity. During this time, students can read, check out books, or do makerspace activities. If students need breakfast, they need to go to the cafeteria first to eat before making the choice to go outside and play or come to the Media Center.
Mizzou Homecoming Canned Food Drive
We are participating in a Mizzou Homecoming Canned Food Drive! We will be collecting food September 5-8. Many elementary schools in Columbia are competing, and the school with the most donations wins a Mizzou Spirit Parade and a visit from Truman the Tiger! The QR code on the flyer also allows for monetary donations. Each Unit will also compete to see who can collect the most cans/donations. If you choose to donate monetarily, please take a screenshot of your donation and send it to Taylor Graves at email@example.com along with what Unit the donation should be contributed to (if you want your donation to count toward a specific Unit). Also, please be aware, that if making a monetary donation, there is a spot to record your child’s school so that Ridgeway gets credit for your contribution.
