Update from Forestburg ISD

May 4, 2020

Dear Longhorns,

I hope you have all been able to stay healthy during our school closure. This has most definitely been a year for the record books with ending the year at home instead of at school with all of the normal spring activities.

I want to take this time to thank our parents for being our partners in education this last quarter of the year. We needed your assistance and truly appreciate your help with overseeing the lessons that the teachers provided for your children. Teachers and parents have to work together to educate our students, and that truth became even more apparent during this school closure.

I also want to take this time to thank our teachers. This is Teacher Appreciation Week, and we have awesome educators at Forestburg ISD!! If you have not taken the time to let your child's teachers know how much you appreciate all they do, please take some time this week to send a note or word of encouragement. This is normally the time of year that we reap the benefits of seeing our students grow and leave our classrooms prepared for the next year, but our teachers are missing that wonderful experience this year. Please let the teachers know how thankful we are to have them in our community, teaching our students!

This week will conclude the introduction of new material for all classes. Next week we will post an Essential Skills Activity Page for elementary, junior high, and high school classes. Once the activities have been completed, the coursework for the year will be concluded. In addition to completing the Essential Skills activities, the weeks of May 11 and May 18 will be used to provide students time to catch up on all missing assignments. Chromebooks will be collected the week of May 18. The Chromebooks may be returned on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of that week. We will have someone collecting them at the same location that we are distributing the lunches, the elementary porch at the east end of the building.

If you need to make other arrangements to return a Chromebook, please contact the office and we will schedule a time for you to return it.

As always, with much love to my Longhorns,

Mrs. Wiley
