Weekly Happenings

Greetings Students and Families,

We have a field trip scheduled for this Friday!

Math focus: Perimeter & Area

Monday - Measure Perimeters

Tuesday - Perimeters

Wednesday - Understand Area

Thursday - Measure Area

Friday - nothing :)

Literacy focus:

Compare and Contrast

We are finalizing our work with the informational texts: Civilizations Past to Present of China and Rome. Students will have a test this Wednesday.

Personification

Our next writing goal is to use the literary device of personification to write riddles about inanimate objects.

Reading Challenge:

Reading challenges are due this Friday.

New books and Reading Logs will be sent home this Friday.

Please remind your student to bring their independent reading book and pink reading log to school every day. Weekly reading challenges are due every Friday.

* Students must write 1-2 sentences for each section of reading, even if they read more than one section in one day.

Spelling focus: Unit #24

Review of Units #19-23

Remember to practice writing your spelling words in cursive at least 3 times during the week.

*Please be sure to check your child's planner every night! This nightly routine helps form good habits, fosters responsibility, and helps prepare children to become more independent in the future.

**Please also check in with your child about their daily behavior (color cards) and help reinforce the importance of making good/positive choices at school. Thank you.
