October 2019
THURSDAY & FRIDAY
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Parent Teacher conferences will be held today Wednesday, October 23rd and tomorrow Thursday, October 24th. These meetings will take place in your child's classroom for approximately 15 minutes and are individual parent teacher conferences allowing us to discuss your student's strengths and challenges, highlight growth that has occurred over the course of this first grading period, and to discuss goals for the remainder of the school year.
All parents are encouraged to schedule a conference. If you are unable to make the times available, please contact your child’s teacher to schedule time that works for you!
** Mrs. Kennedy will not be here on 10/23 & 10/24 and will be scheduling her conferences separately.
Nurse Notes
We continue to work to increase awareness and understanding about the importance of hand washing with soap and water as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.
Hand washing with soap and water can be a "do-it-yourself vaccine" that prevents infections and saves lives.
Please continually reinforce this with your families as well as not touching the 'T Zone'......our eyes, nose and mouth.

Textbook Rental
As a reminder, textbook rental is due. You are able to make payments online through your Skyward account, or by sending payment with your child in an envelope labeled "tuition" with your child's name. Payments can be made with cash or check made payable to Cooks Corners Elementary.

Please contact Lori Hlinsky at l.hlinsky@yahoo.com.
Drama Kids:
Drama Kids hold classes after school on Wednesdays throughout the year! Is this something that your child would be interested in?
More about it: Drama Kids develops all kids. Our children’s acting classes and after school programs are a place where all children, from the shy to the outgoing can develop at their own pace, with plenty of positive encouragement.
Our specialty is using a wide range of unique drama activities in our children’s acting classes to focus the bold, outspoken child and to draw out the quiet child or the inarticulate child and help them reach into themselves to discover their full potential.
Drama Kids International uses our famous copyrighted original curriculum in each class. Our after school programs include a variety of drama-related educational classes and camps, primarily for children and young adults, ages 4-17, using a progressive curriculum that allows students to have some serious fun, while also enabling them to develop:
Acting skills
Public speaking skills
Creative Thinking Skills
Leadership Skills
Networking and Social Skills
Self Confidence and Self-Esteem
A Positive Approach to Life
