Cooks Chronicle

October 2019

Tomorrow and Friday are half days of school. Dismissal will begin at noon.

Parent Teacher conferences will be held today Wednesday, October 23rd and tomorrow Thursday, October 24th. These meetings will take place in your child's classroom for approximately 15 minutes and are individual parent teacher conferences allowing us to discuss your student's strengths and challenges, highlight growth that has occurred over the course of this first grading period, and to discuss goals for the remainder of the school year.

All parents are encouraged to schedule a conference. If you are unable to make the times available, please contact your child’s teacher to schedule time that works for you!

** Mrs. Kennedy will not be here on 10/23 & 10/24 and will be scheduling her conferences separately.

Nurse Notes

We continue to work to increase awareness and understanding about the importance of hand washing with soap and water as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.

Hand washing with soap and water can be a "do-it-yourself vaccine" that prevents infections and saves lives.

Please continually reinforce this with your families as well as not touching the 'T Zone'......our eyes, nose and mouth.

Box Tops Reminder:

This year Box Top$ For Education has changed their program. Most of the box tops have gone electronic and some companies have chosen to continue with the clipping method. The electronic process is as simple as Buy, Scan and Earn!

A link to download that app to start scanning along with additional information on how you can help Cook's Corners EARN can be found here:

If we meet or exceed our $1000.00 goal for the year, our children will be able to vote on one of 2 rewards that will take place at the end of the school year:

1. Movie night in the gym

2. After school dance

Do you have some great pictures from your child's field trip, lunch or classroom visit, or other school event? Upload them to our Google drive (put in appropriate folder) for consideration in the school yearbook:

NOTE: please make sure the pictures are fairly high resolution (at least 300 kB file size and are JPG or JPEG format. Any questions, please email Jessica at

Thank you!

Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts

Your help is needed! Daisys has started at Cooks! K & 1st grade girls need a co-leader!

Also, if you have a 2nd grade girl interested in Girl Scouts we'd love for you to start a troop! Lastly, 4th grade needs a volunteer to help with activities!

Cub Scouts also needs help!

If you have a 1st grade or 2nd grader involved or interested...….den leaders are needed.

Drama Kids:

Drama Kids hold classes after school on Wednesdays throughout the year! Is this something that your child would be interested in?

More about it: Drama Kids develops all kids. Our children’s acting classes and after school programs are a place where all children, from the shy to the outgoing can develop at their own pace, with plenty of positive encouragement.

Our specialty is using a wide range of unique drama activities in our children’s acting classes to focus the bold, outspoken child and to draw out the quiet child or the inarticulate child and help them reach into themselves to discover their full potential.

Drama Kids International uses our famous copyrighted original curriculum in each class. Our after school programs include a variety of drama-related educational classes and camps, primarily for children and young adults, ages 4-17, using a progressive curriculum that allows students to have some serious fun, while also enabling them to develop:

Acting skills

Public speaking skills

Creative Thinking Skills

Leadership Skills

Networking and Social Skills

Self Confidence and Self-Esteem

A Positive Approach to Life
