Hope Festival
The Hope Foundation wanted to share with you our sincere gratitude for supporting us for our 17th annual Festival of Hope! The day was a huge success in so many ways and it was absolutely wonderful to be back in person this year. There is just something about seeing the commons filled with smiling faces that we SO missed last year!
We also wanted to share with you the results of this year's festival. Between the silent auction, boutique, cafe, and donations that were made, on the day of the festival we raised $23,320!!! We are beyond thankful for the support of all of the students, staff, and community members that made this happen for the 17th year. We absolutely could not do it without you. It is because of your support that we will continue to provide HOPE in Boone for many years to come!
Shout out to 4th grade choir who sang at the The Hope Festival! Their energy, enthusiasm and sound were all so good! They give up their recess time a few days a week to rehearse and you can tell they really enjoy it. Thanks to Mrs. Cunningham for all of her work to make this a great performance and congratulations to our 4th grade choir on a great performance!
Computer Science Week!
Last week was Computer Science Week! Students at Franklin have had lots of exciting activities and great learning for computer science! We’ve had several guest speakers who came to explain how computer science has helped them in their careers. Our students have spent time learning about computer science and solving problems with computer science activities. We’re so grateful for the community support! Also, big thanks to Mrs. Byriel and Mrs. Schuler for organizing all of the activities and presenters!
Brrrr!!! December weather is here! Please remember to send your kiddos with gloves and hats as well as warm coats every day. If you need help getting your child winter gear please reach out to your child's teacher so we can find some resources for you.

Seniors: Scholarship Application time is beginning
The Hooper Scoopers are back for the 2021-2022 DMACC Men's Basketball Season!
Your defending National Champion DMACC Bears would like to invite all 2nd - 8th grade students to sign up for the chance to be a Ball Boy/Girl for the Men's Basketball Team. There will be an opportunity for 4 students to participate at each home game. Each participant will receive a t-shirt to wear during the game that they will get to keep. They will also receive free entry into the game along with 4 passes for family/friends to get into that same game. Please arrive at each game 20 minutes (times on sign up reflect this adjustment) before tip off to receive t-shirt and instructions. We will meet in the upstairs weight-room, above the gymnasium. Finally, a parent/guardian must be present with each participant.
Pease sign up early as we anticipate this being a popular opportunity, and space is limited! Limit two games per student per season. When signing up, please be sure to include the school, grade, and shirt size (Youth Medium - Adult Large) of the participant. Go Bears!!!
Take a look! Here are some pictures of what the new Boone Early Childhood Center will look like
YSS Mentoring Program - Update and Volunteer Opportunity!
The YSS Mentoring Program is looking forward to a return to in-person mentoring for the 2021-2022 school year! The program matches students in grades K-8th with a trained volunteer mentor once per week during the school day. These weekly meetings provide a positive, caring role model to eat lunch with, play games and simply talk about the student's interests and ideas.
Information and volunteer applications can be found at https://www.yss.org/program/mentoring.To learn how your child can become a participant, contact Tracy at boonementoring@yss.org or Heidi at hchopskie@yss.org.
Free School Breakfast and Lunch for all Students for the 2021-2022 school year
Tasty Toreador Meals - Supply Chain Issues
• This school year, thanks to federal pandemic waivers, all students will be eligible for free meals, regardless of family income.
• School meal programs nationwide are experiencing many of the same supply chain issues that have impacted restaurants and grocery stores throughout the pandemic.
• Our school nutrition team is committed to ensuring students continue to have access to healthy meals each school day.
• Just as families have to make substitutions on grocery lists, schools will have to make some last-minute changes to our regular menus, based on availability.
• We hope parents and students will be patient as we sort through these supply chain issues.
• We may not have the same menu choices that we typically offer our students, but we’ll be sure that all students are nourished and ready to learn.
*Reminder: For students bringing a sack lunch and wanting school milk, there will be a .50 cent charge per carton.

Athletics Registration
Toreador Families,
Our "Online Athletics Registration" is live and active for the 2021-22 School Year (link is below). Please take the time to read through the information, and fill out the forms for your student. All students involved in District-Sponsored Athletics in grades 7-12 will need a completed online athletics registration on file, along with a current physical form (physicals are valid for 13 months after the date of the physical). There is a place within the registration to upload the completed physical form.
Completion of the Registration/Physical is not required for the attendance at any summer camps that may be offered. However, the Athletics Registration and Physical Form must be completed and on file before a student may physically participate in practice this Fall. For High School, this starting date is Monday August 9th. Middle School practices will begin a couple weeks later near the first day of school.
