Saydel High School Principal: William Crosby
Creating An Eagle Legacy
I am very excited to welcome you to another fantastic year at Saydel High School. We appreciate your time and commitment to our school and to your student’s education. I will be serving the Saydel community as the Saydel High School principal. I previously served the Des Moines community as an associate principal at East High School and before that as an associate principal at Goodrell Middle School and Brody Middle School. I was also a behavior interventionist at North High School and East High School. I started my career at East High School as a physics, earth science and chemistry teacher.
In my personal life, I am married to an amazing woman who is a therapist serving the Highland Park area and I have three wonderful children. My two oldest children will be joining me at Saydel High next year as a sophomore and a freshman. We reside on the NE side of Des Moines just a few miles from the high school with our three dogs. When I’m not at the school, you could see me around the metro supporting my kids in their different activities, at Drake University finishing up my doctorate, or me trying random experiences like joining a curling team.
I’m invested in our community and I truly believe in our district’s mission. At Saydel High we strive to embody the district’s mission of meeting the unique learning needs of each student. We push each student to create an Eagle Legacy that they, and their family, will be proud of and that others will use as an example to better themselves. We are unable to do this alone and we must build a partnership to serve each of our students.
Every great partnership requires great two-way communication. We will communicate extensively with students and parents about student learning and school programs. This communication takes place through our website, PowerSchool, Facebook, Twitter (@SaydelHS), Schoology, etc. We will also communicate weekly and monthly through emails and phone calls. With this in mind, please verify that we have your most updated contact information for your family. Please contact us at any time with any questions you may have, improvements that we can make or assistance we can provide.
Associate Principal: Shannon Mohling
Hello! My name is Shannon Mohling and I am honored to be the Associate Principal at
Saydel High School this year. I currently live in Ankeny with my husband, three kids, and three
dogs. This will be my 21st year in education and my 17th year with the Saydel School District. I taught 2nd grade at Cornell for eight years and then I was a reading and math interventionist and a Master teacher at Woodside for eight more. I am excited to see the kids I taught as 2nd graders all those years ago as young adults in the building, and also see all the students I just had at Woodside. I have a passion for Saydel and when I decided to work toward my administrative degree, I knew I wanted to stay with the district. I am so blessed to have been chosen for this role and I can't wait to continue to support the students and teachers in the community I love.
