Commitment To Safe Schools
Providing a safe and caring place for all children to grow and develop as learners is a top priority in Blue Valley. From physical security measures to strong, trusted relationships, creating an environment where students feel safe is an ongoing commitment and a responsibility that we share as a community.
- Fostering Trusted Adult Relationships With Students
- Making School a Safe Haven For Students
- Identifying, Assessing and Managing Safety Concerns
- Partnering with Local Law Enforcement
Blue Valley’s commissioned campus police department and school resource officers (SROs) focus on building relationships within their school communities to provide safe environments for students at school and at school-sponsored events.
Blue Valley families can find a variety of safety and security information on the district’s website. From prevention information like emergency drills and safety initiatives covered by the 2020 Bond to communication in times of crisis, families can learn more about the district’s safety practices online. The website is also a go-to resource for local law enforcement contacts and information on how to report safety concerns.
The transition into parenting teenagers is a time of tremendous change for teens and it can be overwhelming as a parent to know how to help. "Prepped and Ready" is a resource from Children’s Mercy Kansas City that seeks to empower families to address the hard topics that can be uncomfortable and changes each one of us can make within our own homes to make them safer.
