ESL Teacher

An ESL teacher is a person who teaches English as a second language. They usually teach it to people who move to the country from somewhere else or grew up in a household with a fimily that spoke a different language. A lot of ESL teachers help children AND adults. A reason you need to know one or more foreign language/s fluently is because then you can talk and communicate to your students easily and know if they understand what you are saying.

An average base salary is different depending on the country you teach in, but the average is about $53,000. IN some countries, it is as low as $35,000 and as high as $113,000 in others.

Advantages, Disadvantages, and Travel

There are many advantages of being an ESL techer. some include working with people of various ages, helping people learn a new language, and knowing taht you are making an impact on meny people's lives every day.There are not really any disadvantages to this career besides some uncooperative students and some people not learning anything from your class. There is some travel involved in this career. If you decide that you want to work in a defferent country then you will have to move to that country.


For this career, you will need to have a bachelors degree. In addition, you will need to go to specialized classes just for ESL teachers. You will also need a teacher certification. It will help to gain a lot of experience by being a student teacher. the more time that you put in, the more you will get paid based on experience.
