Flexible Access

Susan Rizzo, Director of Instructional Technology, has asked several principals and elementary media specialists to join in conversations to develop a more consistent model of flexible access library programs. This "think tank" will begin discussions next week and are tasked with identifying ways to implement flexible access libraries in the 2014-15 school year. The anticipated completion date for their recommendations is early spring. This will assure there is ample time to provide teachers and media specialists adequate professional development to prepare for the launch of the program.

Several of our elementary buildings have already implemented flexible access library programs in various ways. The path has not always been smooth, but they have had their share of success stories! They likely have things they would do differently and most definitely can share those stories of the impact this model has on student learning. These reflections will be valuable to you as we prepare to implement flexible access for grades three through five next school year.
