1-26-16 Meeting Information

Hopefully the girls had lots of fun talking about cookie sales last night. We talked about different activities we could do with cookie sale profits, played cookie bingo, had an opportunity to taste some of the types of cookies that are for sale, and practiced selling cookies and giving change to customers.

Cookie Sales

As most of you know initial cookie sales are due on Friday. These should be available around February 19th. Girls can continue to sell cookies through goal getters (see information site for copies). Starting February 3rd I can begin to sign up for cookie booths and will share when I have some dates reserved.

Information Site

To help facility information sharing and provide a one stop shop for our troop information I am working to create a Shutterfly share site. This is still in progress, but I will begin inviting everyone to the site, so that we can start to use it. This will allow me to share event dates, pictures, documents, and updates.

Badges

Now that the girls have started earning a few badges I’m thinking that it might be fun to have a family event where the girls receive their badges and share what they did to earn them. I’m planning this for March 22nd during our regular meeting time. For our new girls don’t worry we will likely earn some more badges before this time and I will also try to put together a few take home packets from some of the badges that some of the girls weren’t able to make it for.

Events

You will see information on some of the events that are coming up below. When you have a chance if you could complete the survey link for these events it would be very helpful in planning and registering for the events.

Masonic Lodge, 915 W State St, St Johns, MI 48879

A tasting tea is a celebration of Girl Scouts World Thinking Day. World thinking day is a day when we celebrate being part of an international organization that promotes girls and women across the globe. For a tasting tea, each troop picks another country to learn about and explore. Each troop would then present some cuisine from this culture for attendees to taste.

As a Girl Scout the girls are encouraged to learn, explore, and share while they work toward a specific achievement. These achievements are rewarded not only through the experience, but also through a badge. The badge signifies completion of that achievement and serves as a reminder of the activities completed. Your girls have been working hard to complete many activities so far this year and we would like to celebrate this with a special badge party. During this event the girls will receive the badges that they have currently earned and share the activities they completed to earn the badge.

THANK YOU!
