Student-Athletes of the Week
Alissa Eimont & Christopher Gendi - Week of 5/13/19
Athletic Leadership
The "Matawan Regional High School Student-Athlete of the Week" program serves to recognize players who are stars both on and off the field. Student-athletes who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and perseverance in school and in the community can be nominated by coaches, athletic directors, and teachers for this honor.
The program will recognize not only the best athletes on each team, but also those who dedicate time to school , volunteer organizations, or have overcome a personal obstacle.
Congratulations to all of our student-athletes!
Alissa Eimont
Alissa Eimont's explosive arm has given her the reputation of one of the best softball pitchers in the Shore conference. Recently, she has pitched 27 innings and allowed four hits in this week's games. Above all else, Alissa's dedication and commitment as a teammate has helped propel the team forward. She is a true role-model for other student-athletes. She takes time out of her busy life to develop clinics to help younger players learn the game. Alissa has earned the respect of her coaches and peers by her willingness to contribute however possible.
Christopher Gendi
Christopher Gendi is in the midst of a monster senior season. He has become a potent force at the mound, leading the team to obtain wins against division rivals. Christopher Gendi won the Shore Sports Pitcher of the week 5 of the baseball season. He threw two back-to-back complete game victories to help the Huskies qualify for the state playoffs which begin on Monday, May 20th. When he's not busy putting up zeroes on the scoreboard as a pitcher, Christopher is busy getting the job done as a student to support the definition of a student-athlete. He plans to continue his baseball career next year at Misericordia University.
