From the Heart
Team,
I know you all have a lot on your mind and many questions that continue to come to the forefront. I want to reassure you that it is not necessary nor possible to have all the answers right now. Tonight and over the next few days and weeks, you will continue to get more information and answers to your questions. We are in uncharted territory, and our district leaders have been working around the clock for the past week to ensure we are prepared and ready to build excellent schools together during this time of school closure.
For tonight, here is information that you need to know:
This is not an extended spring break; this is a building closure. You are expected to be available via your computer and/or phone.
At this time, staff is not allowed in the building.
We are not reporting to work this week except to pick up personal items/devices (more information tomorrow).
Please keep up with your email; multiple emails will come from different departments and it will be essential for you to read and take action on that information daily.
Monitor use of social media. Be mindful of resources/ suggestions offered as we are trying to streamline and use GCISD Learning@Home (more info about that coming soon). Also, be mindful of when/ what you are posting on social media as this is not an extended spring break holiday or time off from work.
We want to ensure that we are consistent in our communication across the district. Tomorrow, we will share our next steps in teacher communication with families.
Practice social distancing and model for our students and families what we all should be doing.
I am available everyday via phone/email/text. Do not hesitate to ask me questions, get clarification or just chat. I am in self quarantine by myself....so communication is welcomed! (Spent part of Spring Break in California)
Most importantly, everyone is getting paid! (detailed email coming from HR)
The priority at this time is for you to stay home, healthy, and informed. We are all working through this together, and this plan is still currently being developed.
I will send an invitation to a Webex for tomorrow afternoon at 1pm. It will give us a chance to check-in on each other, answer questions (if possible), share more information about coordinating with TCC (hopefully available) and announce our Teacher and Para of the Year.
This week:
You will be checking in on every student via email and encouraging them to learn by using the Learn@home resource page. Students are not required to complete the Enrichment assignments this week. Our job this week is to make contact and let our students know that we are confident and prepared to support them during this new season of learning. (More to come)
As Dr. Ryan said, no one in the world has ever attempted to do what we are setting out to do! We've been preparing at CA all year for it and we didn't even know it. Let's be courageous, let's love our Phoenix Families, and let's be grateful that we have an opportunity to do something extraordinary! I believe that it wasn't chance that brought us together, but, in my mind, God put together the perfect team! You are the best! I will be praying for you and your family! We've got this!
Let's do this in love,
Bobbe
The courage to love unconditionally breaks all barriers.

Together we will make a difference!
