Bookfair is Coming!

Big picture
Right now the regular fair homepage is down on Scholastic's end. I will update this when it is fixed.

But you CAN, however, already sign up to help.

The one slightly strange thing will be the schedule.

Students have early dismissal on Friday the 15th. I will start setting up that afternoon, if anyone can come after kids are already out of school (1-3 PM).

Then we'll open the next Tuesday (students have Monday the 18th off) and run through 11:30 AM on Friday the 22nd.

Then if anyone can help take everything down grades 3-5 have clubs starting at 1 so we'd have to be done by then!

Thank you!

Winter, Valentine's, President's Day, Black History, and Rodeo Titles

How did your holiday reading go? Ms. Oliverson read 3 chapter books ... during this break it was mostly grown up books!

Now we're on to some new reads. Check out displays for suggestions!

TCEA conference and Library Planning Meeting

Ms. Oliverson is really excited to attend (and present!) the Texas Computers in Education Association conference right here in downtown San Antonio on Tues., Feb 5 through Thurs., Feb 7. There will be a substitute in the library to keep basic circulation going.

Then on Mon., Feb. 25 she will be attending a district strategic library planning meeting and there will be a substitute again. ALSO ... you will soon be getting a survey to help us plan for the next several years and what sort of library programs you'd love to see! Stay tuned.

Checking Out Electronic Books

You can still use the Overdrive app ... but now you have another option for accessing the same content. Sora (also downloadable for free from iTunes or Google) offers the same electronic materials but in a more student friendly layout. It's kind of like the school library equivalent of Libby, if you use the public library electronic collection.

Reading Resolutions

Want to end 2019 on a high note? Decide now and make your goals visible and specific. Students can make personal goals or families can make goals together. Kids learn by watching the adults in their lives!

Some examples are ...

In 2019 I will try a new genre. I always read mysteries so I will try something new.

In 2019 I will listen to at least 6 audiobooks.

In 2019 I will always have a book, magazine, or ebook with me so that if I am waiting in an office or in the car I can read!
