Join Us for our 2021 Summer School Program
Registration for Summer School is now open and we hope to see all students needing extra help, in class this summer. We also are offering a self-paced enrichment program for those students who want to accelerate their learning.
For students who need grade recovery, we are offering an in-person experience at select school sites that will focus heavily on literacy and math. For students who want to enrich, we are offering an online experience accessible through the Spring ISD website and Schoology.
If your student is participating in-person, the summer school session will run from Monday, June 14 through Friday, July 2. Students in pre-K and Kindergarten will run through Thursday, July 8. The 21st Century after-school program and Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) program will be provided until July 22.
The online self-paced enrichment program will be available all summer long with a set of courses being offered in June and a second set in July.
Visit www.springisd.org/summerschool for more information and to register.Check Your Email on Monday to Take Our Virtual Academy Interest Survey!
Don’t forget to check your email on Monday, May 3, for a district survey gauging parent interest in a new Virtual Academy!
We’re moving forward with the planning of a Virtual Academy that would serve students in grades 3 -12, assuming we’re able to receive state authorization and there’s enough parent interest.
We know that online learning has really been a great fit for some families, so we’re looking at offering a virtual academy for students who really thrive in this learning environment.
The academy would build upon our experience over the past year, giving students a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction with the opportunity to stay connected with their zoned campus through virtual clubs and in-person extracurricular activities.
So check your email on Monday and give us your feedback! The survey will remain open through Friday, May 14.
Now’s the Time to Update Your Contact Information! Log into HAC TODAY!
Parents, now’s the time to update your contact information in the Home Access Center and be sure that we have an email address linked to your HAC account.
This is very important as we will need an email address to contact you over the summer with your annual student update in preparation for the 2021-22 school year.
Getting access to HAC is easy via the mySpringISD link, found on every campus website, as well as the district website. Parents who aren’t sure of their logon information should contact their school. If you already have your mySpringISD username and password, getting to HAC is just a matter of logging into the portal and then clicking on the Home Access Center icon.
Once in HAC, you can edit your contact information in the demographics section. Again, it’s very important we have an email address listed in your HAC account. If you need more details on how to access HAC or set up an email address, visit www.springisd.org/hac.
Spring ISD is Checking In on Chromebooks to Keep Students Connected
The district will be checking in on the status of all student Chromebooks in the coming weeks to collect any loaned out to students who are not returning in the fall, as well as those devices that are no longer working.
For students learning in person, this process will take place during the school day by May 14 or May 21 (for students in grades 3 -5) with teachers verifying the devices with the individuals in their classes. All returning students will be able to keep their Chromebooks over the summer so they can take part in learning activities. We encourage all returning students to hold on to their devices over the summer and take full advantage of the online self-paced learning opportunities available to all students.
Any in-person learners who are not returning to Spring ISD for the 2021-22 school year, including graduating seniors, will be asked to turn in their devices before the end of the year.
Remote learners will be able to complete the audit in one of two ways. If a remote student will be on campus for STAAR testing, the device will be checked at that time. Any other virtual students will be sent a survey to complete regarding the condition of their device, as well as upload a picture of the asset tag or serial number.
Should parents have any questions, they should contact their campus for assistance.
Take Part in Our Reading Colors Your World Competition and Win Prizes!
Get ready for the next district reading competition, set to launch on May10 for students in grades K -8. The event will mark the third such contest this year and will feature prizes, including gift cards and water bottles.
All students need to do is log onto the mySpringISD portal from May 10 - May 28 and access the myON Reader platform, where they’ll be able to access thousands of books. Prizes will be awarded to the top three elementary students with the most minutes of reading time. For students in middle school, prizes will be awarded to those top three with most books read.
Also, myOn Reading Choice Boards will be available through your child’s teacher. You can ask for a print copy or to access it digitally. Challenge yourself by at least completing two non-fiction, two poetry, and two fiction boxes!
The goal is to see all elementary and middle school students logging into myON and exploring new books!
