Dear Parents, Grandparents and Caregivers in the OLC Community,
Happy Father’s Day to all our dads.
We take this opportunity to celebrate the dads and father figures in our lives. We thank you for all that you are and all you do to support our school and your children.
Catholic Schools of Excellence
It was wonderful to see the children happily participating in Book Week. Thank you, parents, for supporting this special event by assisting your child with their costume. I would like to express our appreciation to Mary-Lee Kemp for organising the Book Week activities.
Learning Journey Evenings
All parents and caregivers are invited to our annual Learning Journey Evening on 1st September between 3 -5:00pm. Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances Years 1 and 6 will hold their Learning Journey Night on Thursday 8th September from 3 – 5:00 pm.
School Sport Australia National Championships
We congratulate Joel Peterson who has been selected to represent Western Australia in the 2022 12s Boys Touch Championship. This team will be competing at the School Sport Australia National Championships in Wagga Wagga, NSW in Term 4 this year.
Well done Joel! We wish you all the best for the upcoming School Sports Australia National Schools Championships.

Parents are invited to attend our School Athletics Carnival on Friday 16th September. More details about this event will be forwarded to parents closer to the date.
Our School Advisory Council would like to thank those families who have paid their school fees and are up to date. Should you have any outstanding fees, please make arrangements to finalise these soon. There are a number of methods in which families at the school can pay their school fees. If you have fallen behind in your fees or are facing a change of circumstances that may impact your future ability to pay the fees, please ensure you make a confidential appointment to discuss your options with myself.
I am pleased to report that our building project is continuing to make progress with the steel frame being installed. We can now see the shape of the area which will house the two classrooms and a multi-purpose area. Plumbing has been installed to the new toilet block as well.
Next Thursday 8th September (family, KGB, Y1 – Y6) and Friday 9th September (family, KGR, PP) are School Photo days. All parents should have received their photo order forms for online ordering. If you have not received a form, please contact the office.
If you wish to have Family/Sibling photos, please collect an envelope from the office. Note family photos cannot be ordered online and payment (credit card/cheque/cash) must be included in the envelope and returned to the photographer at school on photo day. Family photos are taken at 8am in the morning before school on both days.
Note that all students from Y1 – Y6 should be wearing full winter formal uniform on Thursday. This includes shorts or trousers for boys, trousers or skirts/dresses for girls and winter formal jumpers for all students in those years. Hair accessories must be in school colours only (teal green, white or black).
Year 2W/1K/1S/4Del parents please be aware that due to PE lessons being on photo day (Thursday), we ask that the students from these classes come to school in full winter uniform, with their joggers in their bags, ready for PE.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Our Year 3 candidates in both classes are making the Sacrament of First Reconciliation on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. This will involve them sharing with Fr. Ian when they may have “missed the mark” with some of their choices and asking for God’s grace to do better. Following the reception of the Sacrament, both classes will join to Celebrate with a Thanksgiving mass on Saturday the 10th September at the 6.00pm mass at the church. All OLC families are welcome to attend this mass at the church to show support for the Year 3 students. Please keep our Frist Reconciliation Candidates in your prayers as they prepare for this special step on their faith journey.
Service Learning in Year 6
The Year 6 students continue to be involved in community service, assisting at St George’s Anglican church to set up for the weekly community kitchen dinners. For a donation of your choosing, anyone from the Dunsborough community can enjoy delicious home cooked meals and meet members beyond the OLC community, many of whom would love someone to chat to. Dinners run Tuesday’s from 5.00pm - 6.00pm at the centre on Gibney St, and takeaway is also available (BYO containers). It's a great way to give families a night off cooking too! Alongside helping others, this provides an opportunity for our students to develop new skills, awareness of others and self-confidence, and to demonstrate our school values of Compassion, Appreciation, Respect and Excellence. Making Jesus Real!

December the 9th marks the 50th Anniversary of the ordination of our parish priest, Fr. Ian Johnson. We will be celebrating this important occasion with a mass lead by Bishop Gerard Holohan on Sunday the 11th December. Following the mass, we will be hosting a morning tea at the OLC school hall. I am looking for anyone who would like to be part of a committee to organise the morning tea celebration to contact me. Please note that the students finish school on the 9th of December, so you would still need to be in town. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can assist. With thanks in anticipation.
