A Prayer for Teachers
Lord, bless the teachers who give their heart to teaching. Thank you for the special gift that you have given them and for giving them a spirit of grace and compassion. May they have strength and endurance to perform their many tasks, and may they know and feel the deep gratitude of those whom they teach.
Amen.
Message form the Principal
Our Term is rapidly passing by. We have a very busy term with the celebration of all of the Sacraments, Year 6 Graduation, the Interschool Athletics Carnival and Student Obstacle Fun Day over the next 4-5 weeks.
Unfortunately, the government has not changed its stance on social distancing, therefore the school will continue to follow the protocols that we have had in place over the last two terms. Assemblies will be videoed and a link sent home to families so that they can watch. Parent's are still unable to enter classrooms and will need to continue to social distance while on the school grounds.
Congratulations to Miss Purvis who has become engaged to Edward. We wish them all the best and a long and happy life together.
Tomorrow we celebrate World Teachers Day. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the
staff of St Columba’s for their dedication and professionalism to the teaching profession.
Our Year 5 students will hold their speeches and elections next week for the 2021 Year 6 Student Leadership Roles. I would like to thank Mrs Bettell for preparing the children.
Next Monday and Tuesday we will have a panel visit from CEWA to meet with the School Board, a group of parents and a selection of staff and students. They will be here to look at what the school does for students and self-improvement. All Catholic schools go through this review process every five years.
A reminder, students will finish this term on Friday 11 December.
The School Advisory Council and P&F AGMs will be on Tuesday 10 November at 7:00pm
in the school undercover area. Please note that due to CEWA becoming incorporated that the
School Board is being replaced by the St Columba’s School Advisory Council.
Entry onto the School Advisory Council will be by election at the AGM. Please find a nomination form attached to the newsletter. There are two positions up for election.
People interested in being elected onto the council will need to keep in mind the following:
Election criteria to the School Council is:
1. Possession of special skills that will be an asset to the Council
2. A deep interest in the welfare of all the students and staff
3. A desire to give service to the St Columba’s Catholic School Community
4. A keenness to promote Catholic schooling
5. An ability to work cooperatively and constructively with all other members of the Council
6. It will be a sounding board to the Principal to help plan for the present and future operation of the school.
Please note:
- It is not involved in St Columba’s day-to-day operations or school finances.
- Nominations confidential to the Principal will need to be handed to the principal
by 3:00pm COB Monday November 9.
At the P&F AGM, all positions are declared open and those who have nominated
for positions to the Executive are elected by vote. Please find a nomination form attached
to the newsletter. Nominations will need to be in by COB Monday November 9.
God Bless and keep safe.

Camp Out refunds
DOSCA 2020 Camp Out Payments
For privacy reasons the P&F have been unable to email the families that had paid to attend the 2020 Camp Out as stated in last week's newsletter.
Unfortunately it is not an option to hold the funds over as a credit for next year’s camp. As 2020 has been a challenging year for the P&F to raise funds we invite you to consider donating your payment to the development of the Nature Playground in the Pre-Primary. Alternatively we can issue a refund to your nominated bank account once we receive the details from you via email.
If you would like to request a refund or have any queries please email ltulett@hotmail.com by Friday 13th November.
World Teachers' Day - Friday, 30 October
World Teachers’ Day is a day for teachers to celebrate and be proud.
This year, despite major challenges, teachers have made sure education continues across the country. It’s reinforced the significant role educators play in the lives of children and students, their families and communities.
Thank you to all of our staff at St Columba's for the amazing work you do each day to support, nurture and develop a positive and caring environment for our students
How can you help your child to be more empathetic and compassionate?
- Be a model of kind behaviour.
- Highlight people’s emotions around you.
- Point out how their behaviour affects those around them.
- Teach your children the joys of helping others.
How was Jesus compassionate?
Jesus Christ is the greatest example of someone with true compassion. Not only did Jesus have compassion and heal people from physical suffering, he also showed the greatest compassion for mankind when died on the cross for our sins.
Sustainability - selling our Worm Wee Fertiliser (Thursdays at Year 2)

Please bring:
1. Your own container
2. A gold coin donation
St Vinnies Christmas Appeal
