KC Metro All-District Orchestra

Please join us in congratulating the following orchestra students on their selection to the KC Metro All-District Orchestra:

Sophia Nguyen – Violin 1 – Chair 12

Matthew Nunez – Violin 2 – Chair 11

McKenna Jennings – Viola – Chair 10

We had nine students audition on Saturday along with hundreds of others from many of our neighboring districts, and these students invested hours of practice and preparation into their auditions - we are proud of them all! The students selected will now represent Lakeview at an all-day orchestra event on Saturday January 12th with a culminating concert that evening. These auditions are highly competitive, and this is a tremendous accomplishment for these students!

Share Your Career with Lakeview Students

Big picture

Sign up to be a career share speaker!

We all have a story that brought us to the career we have today. Would you like to tell your career path story to the 7th and 8th grade students at Lakeview?

The Career Share Committee is currently seeking career share speakers for Wednesday, Nov. 28 and Thursday 29. Times slots range from early to mid-morning and early afternoon.

The career fields emphasized in November include: law, safety and security, government, military, public administration, human services, non-profits, education.

Career share provides students an opportunity to learn about career choices while in school, so they can hone-in on their interests before fully committing to an education or training pathway.

If you are interested in speaking for the November Career Share Session, please email Elaine Warren at elainewarren02@gmail.com

District Redistricting Overview

In preparation for the opening of Hopewell Elementary and Walden Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year, and in order to balance our very different high school enrollments, we will be redistricting all of our attendance boundaries, from elementary through high school. Redistricting will help us continue to be one of the best districts around by protecting our low class sizes and making sure we can balance our resources.

The redistricting committee meetings will be open to the public, if you want to observe them. We will also host public input meetings and provide an online feedback tool to get your thoughts on the committee's ideas before the Board sets the new attendance areas. Watch for more information about those opportunities later in the fall. The Board plans to make its decision in December.

New Infinite Campus Apps for Parents and Students

We are excited to let you know that Infinite Campus has released two brand new apps to connect Park Hill families with what’s going on in the classroom. These free apps are called Campus Parent and Campus Student, and they are designed to give parents and students real-time access to grades, attendance information, assignments, and more. The easy-to-use design displays what is happening in the classroom so you can understand, monitor, and participate in the educational process.

They are available for download from both Google Play and the Apple Store. If you already have the current Campus Portal app for parents, it will no longer be supported; make sure to download the new Campus Parent so you don’t miss anything.

Don’t forget to enable push notifications for instant updates! Just download the app, tap the user icon in the top right, and select Settings > Notification Settings.

If you have any questions or need help accessing your student’s information through the app, please give us a call. Thank you!
