Dear Lakeview Parents/Guardians,
This year the End of the Year Academic Awards Ceremony for qualifying students will take place at Park Hill South on the evening of April 23. The Phi Epsilon Sigma Honor Society honors students who have excelled academically at Lakeview for the school year. In order to be inducted into the honor society students must attain a specific cumulative grade point average for 1st through 3rd quarters of the 2023-2024 school year.
The first category of the Phi Epsilon Sigma Honor Society includes MEMBERS. In order to be included in the MEMBER STATUS of the honor society, a student must attain a 3.25-3.49 cumulative grade point average.
Our next category of the Honor Society is called CUM LAUDE. In order to be considered in the CUM LAUDE status of the honor society a student must attain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5-3.74.
The third level in the honor society is called MAGNA CUM LAUDE. Students at this level must maintain an even higher level of excellence. They must attain a cumulative GPA of 3.75-3.99.
The highest level in the Phi Epsilon Sigma Honor Society is SUMMA CUM LAUDE. In order for a student to receive this award they must have a perfect 4.0 grade point average in all their classes 1st through 3rd quarters at Lakeview. These students are to be commended for their hard work and persistence in achieving this goal.
The “Glory of Missouri” Award was created to encourage the values held by the early leaders of Missouri and to recognize those standards as exemplified in schools and communities by this state's young people, the future of Missouri. Selected 8th grade students will be receiving this award.
If your child is receiving an award, you were sent an email today, April 5. Also, the team teachers notified each student receiving an award what award they are receiving. Your child’s GPA can be found in Infinite Campus/the Parent Portal. If you have any questions please contact your child’s school counselor. We are very proud of all of our student’s hard work this year and we look forward to celebrating with you on April 23 at Park Hill South

Volunteers & Donations needed for End of Year Incentive
On May 23rd, Lakeview will be having an End of Year Incentive for students. It will be an all-day event where students can use their incentive dollars (lynx bucks) to purchase participation in different activities. We are looking for volunteers to help us celebrate during the Outdoor Mixer activity and the 8th Grade Breakfast! At the Outdoor Mixer, students will be allowed to play outside, purchase food from food trucks, play games in a game truck, and play giant lawn games. The PTA is also working on putting together a nacho station, so that any students who cannot afford the food trucks at the Outdoor Mixer could get a free treat instead. We may ask parent volunteers to help facilitate that process during the mixer. The 8th grade breakfast is taking the place of the annual 8th grade picnic, which is a time to celebrate our 8th graders last year at Lakeview!

We are also planning to have a raffle that students receive prizes from the last week of school. After purchasing activities for the End of Year Incentive, students can utilize any leftover Lynx Bucks to purchase entries into a raffle. We would greatly appreciate any item donations that students win as a raffle prize. Suggestions of potential items could include chips, soda, candy, or fidget toys. Any gear that supports KC sports teams, LV, or Park Hill South are also welcome! Please do not donate gift cards. Any donations can be given to the office any day before May 15th, because on that date we will have to advertise the raffle to students, allow them to enter the raffles, and run the raffle to identify which students will receive prizes.
Thank you for all of your help and support this year as we continue to reward our students who are demonstrating expected and positive behaviors!

Spotlight Night is an annual showcase of some of the amazing project work that takes place at LEAD. It’s an opportunity for incoming freshmen to get a taste of the work they will be doing in the future. While this is not specifically an event for incoming freshmen (like our Kickoff Night), we still encourage you to come and see the great things that are being done at LEAD! Spotlight Night runs from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
We’re so excited that your student chose LEAD, and we hope to see you at Kickoff Night! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Sincerely,
Dr. Chris Early
LEAD Innovation Studio Principal
