Message from Principal Haugens
Next week, all students will enjoy a little fun with an All-School Assembly. The assembly will be THE TRUE STORY OF THE THREE LITTLE PIGS: There are two sides to every story, and when the Big Bad Wolf takes the stand in Piggsylvania’s Trial of the Century, he finally gets his say! But whether he’ll get a fair trial in a corrupt piggy court is anyone’s guess. Enter the jury box and decide the fate of Big ‘n’ Bad in this musical adaptation of the hit children’s book.
Last Friday was the end of the Second Trimester. Report Cards will be emailed to parents on Friday, March 18th. As a reminder, report cards are password protected. You will need to enter your child's birthday: Month (2 digits), Day (2 digits), Year (4 digits), including slashes MM /DD / YYYY.
Have you filled out a 5Essential Survey yet? We need 20% of parents to complete the 5Essential Survey in order for DuJardin to receive feedback. The survey asks questions about students' experiences, attitudes, and activities in school. We ask that parents take some time to complete the survey at the following link: https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/. The deadline to take the survey is tomorrow!

Nurse's Corner
Thank you for working together to decrease our number of COVID positive cases.
-As a reminder, students should stay at home if they have a fever of 100.0℉ or higher or experience diarrhea, nausea and/or vomiting. Students should remain at home until symptom free for a minimum of 24 hours without the aid of medication.
-If a student is sent home from school, he or she should not return to school the next day.
The CDC Signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in children include:
- Fever--Fatigue--Headache--Myalgia (muscle aches)--Cough--Nasal congestion or rhinorrhea--New loss of taste or smell--Sore throat--Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing--Abdominal pain (Kids usually say stomach ache)--Diarrhea--Nausea or vomiting--Poor appetite or poor feeding
COVID Testing
Students returning to school after having any of the COVID symptoms will need a negative COVID test. This testing can be completed at school ONLY if we have a signed consent form on file. If we do not have a negative test or a signed Consent Form, your child will not be allowed in class. During that situation students sit in the office until we are able to contact parents to obtain a signature or to be picked up.
Your student can avoid this lengthy process if the Consent Form is already on file. If you would like to permit your student to be tested for COVID at school when they have been symptomatic, please print the form below for each of your children, sign it, and return it to school if you have not already done so.

Student Placement Information
This request form is due back to Mr. Haugens by Friday, April 8th. Although a request form is not required, parent input about a child’s academic experiences can provide valuable insight to this process. Please remember that considerations for placing students in classes include but are not limited to class size, gender ratio, academic levels, student learning styles, specific student needs, diversity, and student peer relations. It is not recommended that a parent request a specific teacher due to the fact that requests are difficult to satisfy and teaching assignments can change from school year to school year. If you have questions about this form, please phone Mr. Patrick Haugens at 630-894-9200.

FirstView
FirstView: The Bloomingdale School District is excited to inform you that the District will be launching FirstView®, a bus tracking and parent communication app for your smartphone or desktop on Thursday, February 10, 2022. FirstView® is being made available to parents through our continued partnership with our transportation provider, First Student. The FirstView® app, located at www.firstviewapp.com or in the Google Play App Store or Apple iOS App Store, allows parents to track their child’s bus live in real time. Parents will be able to follow a map screen that shows the location and direction of their child’s bus, the bus stop schedule for the current day and timestamps for school arrivals and departures. Parents will know when the bus arrives or departs from school. Using GPS, the app is designed to provide parents with a better guideline for bus location and its estimated time of arrival at bus stops. Students should still be at their assigned bus stop 7 minutes prior to the estimated or scheduled arrival time. Among its many great features, the app allows parents to customize alerts and email notifications to alert them when their child’s bus is at a chosen distance or number of minutes away from their stop. Also, parents can track the buses for all of their children using individual color coding for each child, so every selected stop will appear on the map on their phone or computer simultaneously for easy viewing. This is a great feature for grandparents and other student caregivers.
Our District Technology Department has worked closely with First Student over the past month to ensure additional security measures are in place to safeguard student information when parents use the FirstView® app, which requires a your child's Student ID and an unique Security Code. The security measures are designed so only you can view your student’s bus stop and information specific to your child.
Please watch for a message next week that will contain the necessary information to set-up this application. In addition, there will be resources located on the District Webpage within the Business Office's department page.
Send a note to school or email your students teacher and office if....
He / She is walking home or being picked up instead of taking the bus
He / She is being picked up by someone other than who is on the pick up list
He / She is going to kids place instead of taking the bus or vice versa
He / She is leaving school early
As always if your child will be absent please call the office.
