PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - DONNA BURKE
Hello everyone,
As I said last week, we have so much going on at Bumpus. We currently have students involved in Debate, Band, Choir, Theater, Robotics, Scholar's Bowl, Bowling, Track, Basketball, Cheerleading, Dance and more. In addition today we celebrated our students who were selected for the National Junior Honor Society. We are so proud of these students, and we know they will continue to be leaders in our school. Check out the picture of the group below!
In addition, congratulations to our Bumpus Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Jasmine Jenkins. Mrs. Jenkins teaches 7th grade Language Arts. In her nomination form, it was noted that Mrs. Jenkins is a innovative thinker, and tries new ideas to help her students learn. She tries to differ her instruction so that each student has an opportunity to learn in the way that best suits them. When dealing with students, Mrs. Jenkins has a way of connecting that is unmatched. Congratulations Mrs. Jenkins!
With everything going on outside of school, it is very important for our students to be good managers of their time. We have Extra Time & Assistance (ETA) for 20 minutes daily as well as a 48 minute period on Thursdays. Students can also go to morning ETA in room A112 before school starts. All of the students have time to get extra help at school, but if you have concerns, contact your child's teacher.
Thanksgiving is next week, so I want to let everyone know how thankful I am for each of you. I am thankful for our students, teachers, staff, parents and guardians. I am so thankful to be a part of the Bumpus family.
Thank you for your continued support and GO BUCS!
Congratulations to our new National Junior Honor Society members!
Congratulations Mrs. Jenkins - Bumpus Teacher of the Year

NEWS FROM MRS. SCHMITH, SCHOOL NURSE
If your child has ANY symptoms of illness, please keep him/her at home until you can determine the cause of the symptoms. If your child has symptoms and they have been tested for COVID-19, they must remain home until the COVID-19 test results are reported to you. Per the ADPH Back to School Guidance, if your child has symptoms and has a negative covid test result, the child should stay home for 10 days UNLESS a healthcare provider issues an alternate diagnosis. We don't need to know the specific diagnosis but we need to know there is a diagnosis other than COVID-19 to explain the symptoms. When students report to school with symptoms of illness and subsequently test positive for COVID-19, they have exposed countless others, creating multiple close contact individuals and additional COVID positive cases. Please refer to the ADPH Back to School Guidance pages numbered 13 and 15, or your personal Healthcare Professional if you have questions. https://www.alabamapublichealth.gov/covid19/assets/cov-school-guidance-073021.pdf
