Dear Rose Families,

I can’t believe that I am writing a note to wish you all a happy spring break week! Where has the time gone? It feels like we were just getting started -creating new routines, thinking about Halloween costumes, and planning winter activities. Now, the days are long, flowers are starting to pop up from the ground, the kids are coming in muddy from the playground, and there is a fresh feeling in the springtime air. I sincerely hope you are able to find some rest and relaxation over the next week. The kids have been working so hard and I know you have also been working diligently to support them and keep them on track as the school year blazed onward. When we come back from spring break, we have a lot of activities planned to end the school #StingrayStrong! We will share a draft calendar after break so you can plan accordingly.

News to Note:

  • We had our final grade level musical for the year. Fourth graders performed We’re Making Music last Wednesday night and it was certainly a fun show for students and their family members. We are so happy that we got to host a musical show for all grade levels this year, and we appreciate your flexibility and cooperation as we changed some protocols to make it all work and have a safe experience for students and family members. Mrs. Blake is already thinking about what shows will be performed next year :)

  • School Year 2022-2023: Beginning in early April, the Rose staff starts the important task of developing class lists for the next school year. Classroom teachers, student support personnel and I devote considerable time and effort toward this process. If you do wish to provide the school with unique information concerning social, emotional, or academic factors, please keep the following two points in mind. Submit your thoughts in writing no later than April 22, 2022. Please note, we do not accept requests for specific teachers.

  • Personal Devices: If your child needs to bring a personal device to school (phone, Apple/Smart Watch, etc., please make sure that your child understands that it cannot be used during the school day. If it becomes a distraction to the learning environment, then the teacher will bring it to the office for parent pick-up. Please also know that we are not responsible if a device gets damaged or lost. The best way to reach your student is by calling the office–we hand deliver notes all day long and make sure students get important information from families.

  • Forgotten supplies/materials after school: Recently we have had students trying to access the building after school for forgotten supplies, water bottles, or personal belongings. We cannot have students wandering through the building after school for these materials as this is a safety issue. Please call the school office if your student needs something and an office staff member will do their best to get it for you. The school office closes at 4 pm, so any pick-up would need to happen by 4 pm

  • COVID Updates: We have 0 positive student COVID cases reported at Rose School this week and 1 student in quarantine. We have 0 positive staff cases to report. If you have additional questions about positive cases and quarantines, you can also check the district COVID Dashboard for up-to-date district COVID information.

    Warm regards,

    Heather Schumacher, Principal
