#CelebrateMonday
March 19, 2018
Isn't it exciting to get to come in on a wonderful Monday morning - knowing that you just need to make it through a few more days until you reach a long-awaited and a much-deserved opportunity for a long and deep breath??
When we are counting down the days to a break, it's really critical that we keep focus and work to finish strong!
But sometimes it can feel really challenging to locate, identify, and name our purpose.
Sometimes we have to listen VERY closely. And sometimes we have to be willing to take big risks - not always knowing what they will lead to - in order to find and feel that purpose.
If you are not familiar with this film, here's a quick synopsis: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097351/plotsummary
What is so amazing to me is the incredible amount of faith and drive that Ray Kinsella has in this film. He hears this nagging voice in his head, "If you build it, he will come."
How often do we have those nagging voices in our heads? Encouraging us to consider a path, an option, an action? And how often do we shake our heads to chase away the voices?
Not Ray. Instead, he completely embraces that voice. He tries to get to the bottom of it. What is this voice? Why am I hearing it? What does it mean?
He hears this voice two more times after that, telling him "Ease his pain," and "Go the distance." Despite the obstacles, the doubters, and the lack of knowledge of where all of this work and dedication will take him - he continues on. He knows in his heart that the risks he is taking - this passion that he has - will lead to good things in the end.
Instead of trying to brush them away embrace them, listen to them, write them down!
What are they encouraging you to do? How are they compelling you to act? How can they lead you to a greater sense of purpose? How can you create time and space to listen to those voices and to chase after whatever it is they are coaxing you to do?
Ray listened to those voices not really knowing what would become of his actions or understanding to what they would ultimately lead. In the end, Ray found an incredible sense of fulfillment as his dedication to the ideas of "If you build it, he will come," "Ease his pain," and "Go the distance," resulted in a game of catch with his estranged (and deceased) father.
We can all do this! We can all allow those nagging voices to help lead us to a place of greater purpose and fulfillment. We just need to be courageous, lean on our tribes, and not be discouraged by the obstacles we face.
So "Go the distance" today, and make this the best Monday of the week!
Cheers!
