NSCAS Testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders

5th graders will take the NSCAS Science Assessment on March 23rd and 24th.

Grades 3-5 will be taking the NSCAS Reading Assessment on April 13th and 14th,

and taking the NSCAS Math Assessment on April 20th and 21st.

Additionally, 5th graders will be taking Math Placement tests the week of April 26th.

Tips for Success in NSCAS Reading and Math Tests

Attendance is a MUST

Please avoid scheduling appointments or vacation time on your child's testing dates.

Get enough sleep and eat a good breakfast

This is probably the most underrated tip!

Encourage reading

Good reading skills factor heavily in a timed test, so help motivate your child to read by offering fun and interesting materials. Ask questions about what your child is reading for insight into progress he/she is making in reading comprehension.

Chat with your child

Testing measures critical thinking. Ask your child to discuss his/her ideas and voice their opinions often to stimulate thought processes.

Communicate with your child's teacher

Your child's teacher is your partner in monitoring their overall academic progress.

Relax and remain positive

The best test takers are calm, confident, and at ease!
