Panorama Survey: This needs to be administered to our students this week! Window closes on Friday.


Graduate Data: In talking to some of you about a goal of tracking our students after they graduate, I have heard several ideas. At this time, we need to track down 28, 2019 graduates for Core Data. Will discuss together because some of you will know the info we need.


I have to submit some photos for the ASBJ article. Since we have plenty to pick from, if you have a favorite photo that captures what we do (and is a good quality picture), please send it to me!


On a whole throughout the District, spending is UP. They believe this is due to the Amazon Business account. While Amazon is quick and easy, remember it isn't always the cheapest.


Attendance: Not bad for trial and error. Thanks to all who got it up and running! Teachers mark the first box when students "check in". Debi will take care of those who sign in/out beyond that. ISS/OSS/Parent notes can be found in the last column.


Monday: Jacob Craig's mother will most likely bring him to school. Summer, you may want to join a quick meeting.

It is time for your PDP mid-year review. Go into the system, answer the box about progress thus far, and submit. (OK, those directions are from memory.)

HOPE Award Winners...SHHHHH, It's a SECRET!

Mark your calendars! This, in my opinion, is the greatest award one could get from LPS. We can all share ideas of what to present, but WHO is willing and able to present for this year's winners? Let me know!

LA Staff Member of the Year!

As we have in the past, LA will have ONE staff member represent LA as the Staff Member of the Year. Basically, if you are a District employee and work at LA, you are eligible for this nomination!


To nominate a staff member, send Melissa an email by Wednesday! All I need is a name!

Substance Abuse Groups at LA

Great news!! Let's talk about HOW we can get this off the ground quickly!


As part of the Children's Services Fund, we have the ability to offer substance use groups or individual therapy. Lisa Rau, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) is a therapist with Tri-County Mental Health Services who will be working in LPS. Lisa plans to be available in LPS from 9:00 - 3:30.


To access services, your teams will need to follow these steps:

  1. Groups: Parents will need to fill out and return this permission slip. Students can begin meeting in groups once this is returned.
  2. Individual Therapy: Care Team will make a referral using the link. Please check "Substance Use Therapy" in the services requested section. Our district team reviews this form every other week.

We will create Lisa's schedule based on need and interest. It is likely that she will not be able to make it to all three high schools in one day. Let me know as soon as possible if you have students or groups who can begin working with her.

SEL Lesson for NEXT Week (Jan 21-25)

Big picture

Circle: If you could talk with anyone in the world or throughout history, what is one question you would ask the person and how would you ask it? (Have them actually role play asking the question as if they were talking to the person….using BEST skills, of course!)


Skill Introduction:

Active listening:

  • Pay full attention to what we are hearing

  • Focus on the person speaking

  • We ask questions about things we are not sure of or to check that we are understanding correctly

Passive listening:

  • Not giving full attention

  • Not asking questions

  • Not thinking about what we are hearing


Skill practice (optional): Play the telephone game


GOAL: Try active listening MORE this week. You will write about it later in the week!


Writing prompt: When did you try to actively listen this week? How did it go? What went well? What benefits of active listening did you observe? What was hard about it? Did you change your techniques to improve, and if so, how? May seem awkward or dumb now, but the more you practice it, the better you will be.
