Class Scheduling Help Needed
We have been hard at work this summer building the 2020.2021 master schedule, and it has been a particularly difficult schedule to create for many reasons. There are many constraints that we encounter each year during schedule creation, but this year we have more to contend with, including COVID restrictions and guidelines that we must follow to ensure the safety of students and staff.
When creating the master schedule we encounter the following obstacles:
CareerTec (offered AM & PM for 11th & 12th grade students)
HCC classes (offered for 11th & 12th grade students)
Staff availability (part time staff can only work specific portions of the day; instructors teaching both JH & HS classes)
Fewer classes offered due to enrollment and staff availability
Only ONE section of MOST classes
COVID restrictions/guidelines (new)
While we have done our very best to accommodate as many course requests as possible, there are instances when we are simply unable to do so. Many times, students simply do not select enough courses to fill all class periods, and other times we are just simply unable to fill a particular course request.
Please Check Your Email Daily!
Each year we must reach out to students who fall into these areas and request additional and/or alternate course choices to complete their schedules. Emails with scheduling information will be sent to parents and students over the next few days for students with incomplete schedules due to one of the reasons above. Please make sure your student is checking their email daily so they can review the information and respond with their choice(s) in a timely manner.
The master schedule will be released via Teacherease in the next couple of weeks, and it is important to remember that any changes to schedules be made prior to the start of school. There will be a $50 charge for schedule changes after Friday, August 21st.
Please understand that due to the obstacles listed above we will only be accommodating changes in the following situations:
Dropping a course you are no longer interested in (only if section sizes allow)
Adding a course in place of a Study Hall (only if section sizes allow)
We will NOT be accommodating schedule changes for the following reasons:
Changing classes/sections to be with friends
