Modern and Contemporary Dance
History of a Modern Dance
Loie Fuller, Isadora Duncan, Ruth St. Denis, and Ted Shawn are considered the creators of modern dance back in the late 1800's. It became increasingly more popular in the 1920's. Dancers doing this new style on tours helped gain interest. Modern is a combination of ballet and interpreting music. Modern dance has changed over the years to be more sophisticated since the early days.
