Teachers as Writers
Impacting Writing Instruction for Grades 3-8
--Kylene Beers
Teachers as Writers: Impacting Writing Instruction for Grades 3-6 is an interactive workshop that will help teachers become more competent in their writing skills so that they become more confident as teachers of writing. Teachers will leave the session connected with other teacher writers to build a support system which will sustain their writing life.
Objectives of the session:
- Understanding the importance of having a personal writing life
- Using a personal writing process to improve writing instruction in the classroom and to boost students' writing confidence on standards tests
- Creating a community of teacher writers
- Examining Visible Learning (John Hattie) factors as it pertains to writing instruction
- Using technology to organize and publish writing
Leigh Anne Eck, 6th grade teacher at Clark Middle School in Vincennes, has designed an exciting and informative session. Please join us at the Southern Indiana Education Center on January 11!
