Glen Lake News to Staff
May 29-June 1, 2018
Feedback for change
1. They love the diversity of Hopkins, and believe that they are fortunate to be in a community that represents the World.
2. They know which teachers love teaching and which teachers don't!
3. Students of color can quickly see when a teacher doesn't have high expectations for them.
4. They love the opportunity to talk about their experiences and share their views!
The more I listened to them talk, the more I thought about our students and what they would say 6-12 years from now if they had a similar opportunity. Would they say that they felt like they belonged at Glen Lake? Would they say that their elementary experience prepared them for their school years to come? Would they say that they had an equitable opportunity to achieve?
Opportunities for feedback need to happen, and this opportunity was powerful. Think about ways you can give your students a similar opportunity the last 2 weeks of school, it may open your eyes to things you didn't see before.
