Math, Science and Tech Support

This week Math & Science tutoring will be available to support our GA Pirates. Get in your support before the break for the holidays arrives!


Math tutoring with Mrs. Igims will be held on Monday (1/7) and Wednesday (1/9) at TRES from 4:30pm to 6:00pm.


Science tutoring with Mrs. Young will be on Wednesday (1/9) from 4:00pm to 5:30pm.


Technical support may also be available during these times! Please feel free to stop by and we look forward to seeing you!

2019 NCDOT Aviation Art Contest

Who can participate: All children born between 2001-2012 who live in and/or attend school in North Carolina

When is the deadline: All entries must be postmarked by Friday, January 18

Theme for the contest: “My Dream to Fly”

Volunteers Wanted

Do you want to share your passions with our GA Pirates? You can sign up to sponsor a club or an activity!

If you are interested in volunteering to sponsor a chess, art, music, dance, gaming or other club, please let us know. We would like to offer extracurricular activities and know many of you have talents you would like to share. All volunteers will need to complete the volunteer process which may be located at this link.

Information for Grades K-5

GA Spelling Bee

The GA Spelling Bee will be an exciting event! Please note that the date has been modified! The Spelling Bee will be on January 23, 2019 at 12:30pm in the Tar River Community Center.


Granville Academy has four Pirates participating! The students are Immanuel Perkins (4th Grade), Rylee Drissel (4th Grade), Miley Thompson (5th Grade), or Natalie Ollila (5th Grade)! If you see them, wish them luck!


The GCPS District Spelling Bee will be held on March 14, 2019.

Attention All 5th Grader Families

The Fifth Grade has planned a field-trip to Washington, DC on Thursday, April 11th to support and expand the 5th grade curriculum.


We are booking transportation and calculating field trip costs based on attendance and who will need to be transported via charter.


PLEASE complete this form (https://goo.gl/forms/pjLcf5DTxtGSXeq73) by January 9 to indicate if you want to drive or car pool with another parent. This will let us know if we need to charter a large van.

5:30 AM- Depart Tar River ES

6:45 AM- Rest Stop at Rest area, Dolphin, VA 23843

10:45 AM - Meet at National Mall at Constitution & Independence Ave (between 1st & 17th St)

10:45- 4:30 - Explore Museums, Monuments, and lunch on your own with your group

4:40- 6:30 - Meet at Union Station for Dinner/Shopping

6:30 PM - Depart Union Station for Home

8:30-8:40 - Rest Stop at Pilot Travel Store (2126 Ruffin Mill Rd, Colonial Heights, VA 23834)

10:30 PM - Arrive at Tar River ES

Science Olympiad Practice

Tuesday, Jan. 8th, 1-2pm

Science Olympiad practice for grades 5-9 will begin on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Granville Academy NGMS Campus. All Granville Academy students who attend either the Northern or Southern campuses are invited to come practice!

Remind

Mrs. Young and Mrs. Nelson have Remind groups that they would love for all middle school students and parents to join! This is a great way to get reminders, updates, and to also contact them! Students will be given a paper this week on instructions to sign up so be on the look out!

Information for Grades 9-12

High School Final Exam Information


The end of the first semester is coming quickly and along with final exams! All students will test at the Granville Academy Northern Granville MS Campus. This campus is located at 3144 Webb School Road. Please enter the dirt driveway to access the Granville Academy entrance and follow the signage provided.


Be sure to get a good night of sleep, eat a good breakfast and study! Remember that all exams comprise 25% of your final grade in each course.


If you would like to help provide snacks, coffee, water or cocoa for students on exam days, please drop off in
Room 329 to Mrs. Mazie Marlin.


We want to make sure all of students are comfortable and ready to score a level 4 or 5.
