Conservancy Kids
We bring the Sonoran Desert to you!
Welcome to Conservancy Kids!
We are so excited to have you with us on this virtual journey of inquiry and place-based learning! Right now we may be social distancing, but we're all connected by the awesomeness of science. We're junior scientists, exploring the natural world, asking questions, and making discoveries. Join us for an adventure that will take you outdoors, around the house, and into the incredible Sonoran Desert. Welcome to Conservancy Kids! We're excited to see you!
The Hidden Desert
Take a look at the two pictures below. Which one shows the desert? The first picture was taken in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale, AZ (pc: Lynne Janney Russell). The second overlooks downtown Phoenix, AZ (pc: unknown). These places look pretty different. But guess what? Both are a part of the Sonoran Desert! So whether you live near wild, open space or in the heart of Phoenix, you are living in the Sonoran Desert--sometimes you just have to look closely.
Where's the Desert?
Where's the Desert?
Let's be a scientist!
Even in urban cities, you can find evidence of the hidden desert. Next time you're outside, whether walking the dog, going to the grocery store, or exploring during the cooler mornings and evenings, look around for evidence of the hidden desert wherever you live. Don't forget your science notebook!
