Hello Centerview Families,
Our PTO’s one and only fundraiser kicks off this week. It’s the $5 from 5 people Centerview Elementary Challenge FUNraiser. Proceeds go toward events and activities such as bussing for field trips, active learning games for indoor/outdoor recess, teacher appreciation, family fun nights and other opportunities. $5 from 5 people, a total contribution of $25.00, will go a long way toward enhancing the opportunities for our students throughout the school year.
Students are encouraged to collect $5 from family, friends and known neighbors to support our PTO’s FUNraiser. I have talked with each grade level to share my expectations when collecting pledges: Be Polite, Be Appreciative, and Be Safe when interacting with family, friends and known neighbors.
All students will participate in the PTO’s Centerview Challenge Run and Fun on October 6 on our SLP Turf fields, regardless of the amount donated. Envelopes with directions will arrive home today. Please return any funds raised to your teachers on or before Tuesday, October 4. This is the first and only fundraiser of the school year.
For the Centerview Run and Fun, Thursday, October 6, we hope to see students wearing their favorite fitness attire; gym and workout gear, running apparel, sweat bands and workout sneakers! Families are welcome to participate with their student and try and make it twice around the turf fields with multiple obstacles throughout the course.
The Run and Fun event is a celebration for our school community. It’s a time to show our appreciation for the donations and many learning opportunities ahead. We’ll be sharing when each grade level will be running in next week’s newsletter.
In your home mail this week, students who took one of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) last spring will receive their results. You are getting results now in the fall for assessments that took place last spring. These results are sent to us from the Minnesota Department of Education in late August. If you have questions, please reach out.
Next week is homecoming week in Spring Lake Park Schools. We’ll be showing our Panther Pride with fun activities and the Panther Pride Sweepstakes. Go, Panthers!

Personal Property and lost and found
We recommend students leave all valuables at home. If special circumstances make it necessary for a student to bring money or other important possessions to school, leave the belongings in the office.
To minimize lost items, please:
- Keep non-essential items at home
- Label everything especially headset, lunchbox and clothing layers that may be removed during the day
- Remind your student to return their possessions to their locker or backpack when not using them to avoid loss
- Help your student form the habit of checking that they have their belongings each day
- Remind your student that items left on the floor in front of their locker are not allowed and will be removed
Centerview has a designated lost and found area. If something is lost, students should check the lost and found immediately. Jewelry, money, wallets, purses and eyeglasses can be claimed in the main office. Unclaimed items are donated to local charities throughout the course of the school year.
If your child leaves something on the bus, items can be retrieved by calling the transportation department at 763-600-5590. Please provide your child’s bus number to claim misplaced items when calling.
Telephone calls and text messaging
To maximize learning time, we ask that parents/guardians refrain from calling or texting their students during the school day. Please make arrangements for after-school activities or any other family logistics prior to the school day. Students may use school phones for emergencies only.
Phone calls to teachers will only be forwarded to voicemail and not directly to the classroom when class is in session. Teachers will check for messages and return calls at an appropriate time during the day and within 24 hours.
Update immunizations by November 1
Minnesota School Immunization Laws currently require all students enrolled in school to be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTap/Td/Tdap), polio, measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, and varicella (chickenpox). One dose of the meningococcal (MCV) vaccine is due in 7th grade, and a booster dose at age 16.
The only exceptions are:
1. A student has had the chickenpox virus
2. Medical exemption with paperwork from your provider
3. Conscientious exemption with notarized exemption form
Students whose immunizations are not up to date by Tuesday, November 1 will be excluded from school until their immunizations are current.
If you have questions about whether or not your child is due for immunizations, please contact their healthcare provider. If you are interested in access to low-income options for vaccines, please reach out to Anoka County Public Health at 763-324-4240.
From The Health Office - Donate to the "Clothing Closet"
Accidents happen regardless of age that require a change of clothes. Spilled food, nosebleeds and students unable to make it to the bathroom in time are just a few of the reasons our students need an extra outfit. We try to have a variety of sizes on hand to help get students back to class. Our Clothing Closet in the Health Office is always in need of gently used athletic pull on pants or leggings. Elastic waist clothing is preferred as it fits a variety of sizes and is free of snaps/buttons/zippers which can be difficult for some students. Donations are always welcome. Sizes 6T – big boys and girls. Send your donations to the office. Thank you!
Nutrition Services Form: Purchase of à la carte items
During lunch, students have the option to purchase à la carte items (second milk, extra entree, bottled water, etc). If you do not want your student to purchase à la carte items, please complete this form and email it to jswene@district16.org.
Parent and guardian access to learning: How to log in to Seesaw and Schoology
Spring Lake Park Schools students use Seesaw (grades K-2) and Schoology (grades 3-12) for their learning. Parents/guardians can also access these platforms and follow along with what their children are learning in school. Once a parent or guardian logs on, if you're not sure what you're looking at or where to find something, ask your student to give you a tour!
Seesaw - grades K-2
Seesaw is a learning system intended to give our students in grades K-2 a place to share learning and growth. Seesaw is an easy-to-use platform for our younger learners and provides parents with access and insight into what their children are learning at school.
Parents:
- If you are logging into Seesaw from a computer, use this link.
- If you are logging into Seesaw from the app, download the Seesaw app and follow the instructions on the invite from your child's teacher. If you already had a Seesaw account you don't need to do anything, you will use the same account as you did in the past - your child's new classes will appear the next time you log in.
Students:
- Students need to have both the Clever and Seesaw app downloaded onto the Pad. Students get a QR code from their teacher, scan it in the Clever app and click on Seesaw.
Schoology - grades 3-12
Schoology is our primary learning management system for students grades 3-12. Schoology embeds course content, videos, assignments, quizzes, links and more. Parents/guardians can access Schoology and have total visibility into what their children are learning at school.
- If you are logging into Schoology from a computer, use this link. Watch this video to learn more.
- If you are logging into Schoology from the app, make sure to select Log In through your School and type in Spring Lake Park Schools. Watch this video to learn more.
- Check your parent settings and preferences for the year to receive Schoology updates. Watch this video to learn more.

Award winning, again
For the 16th year running, Spring Lake Park Schools has received the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting award. Less than 10 percent of districts in Minnesota receive this award, which was announced and presented at the September 13 school board meeting.
“We don’t take this recognition for granted. It is meaningful each year because it acknowledges our district’s commitment to solid financial stewardship,” says Superintendent Jeff Ronneberg. “I hope it instills pride and confidence in how we manage our financial resources at a time when school districts are under significant financial strain.”
