Nurse's Blog
Being Thankful
I saw a student recently at Safeway. He had moved away a few years ago but told me he always wanted to move back to Seward. He would come to see me at the nurse’s office and we’d talk usually for a very long time. He had problems at home and at school. The young man standing before me now has a job and feels like he is doing well. It is always affirming to know a student that has faced challenges at home and school can be resilient in his future. A blossoming thought occurred while I was talking to this young man and I knew then that it is the connection with students that I have missed most this school year. We all have definitely lost many things this year. Ultimately, it has brought to the forefront what is truly important in my work and that is the connections I have made with students and staff.
COOPER LANDING SCHOOL
Holiday Swags
The swags are ready for pick up. If you ordered any, you can stop by the school Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday this week between 9:00-3:00. You may come in the building as long as you are wearing a face covering. Thank you for your generous support of Cooper Landing School!
There will be no school on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Please make sure your child brings a filled water bottle to school each day and brings it home at the end of the day. We are happy to refill it during the day if needed. We appreciate it!
Please visit our website at https://kpbsd.org/schools/cooper-landing/. There is a lot of useful information including links to the Cooper Landing Gem, minutes of PAC meetings, etc.

We will be doing a Thanksgiving feast with the whole school before break. Parents are invited to attend, however you will need to have your volunteer paperwork filled out in advance. If you have not already done so, you can find that information here: https://www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us/employment.aspx?id=19556. You will not be allowed to attend if you have not filled this out prior to the event. Please send your confirmation email to mtrostel@kpbsd.k12.ak.us when you have completed the application. You must do this every year, it does not roll over.
School lunches must be ordered by noon on Friday for the following week. You must fill out one form per child and will need your child(ren)'s student ID number.
