Christmas at Madonna
Every morning, at 9:15 students, will join me virtually in the chapel. One class will join me each day-asper a schedule.
We will sing "Violets in the Snow", and do a Jesse Tree reflection.
The students love this time of year and this very special prayer and reflection time.
Christmas Concert NO, BUT ....
Each class will be doing 2 things: Song and Poem, 2 Songs, A reading of a story. It will depend upon the teacher and students. They will decide.
On Monday, Dec. 14th, we ask that you send your kids to school in their Sunday best clothing and we will video record them singing. We will send you the video link on Dec.18th.
If you do not want your child recorded, please let your child's teacher know and we will keep them out of the recording.
We will also, send you a link on Dec.18th to make a donation to Valeda House. Like every Christmas, we collect at the concert $$ for Valeda House.
I am so excited about this. We are so happy that we can keep the Christmas Spirit as a special part of Madonna School.
Also, On the Last day of classes before Christmas - December 22, all classes will have a party in the afternoon. They will make snowflake decorations, sing Christmas Carols virtually and School Council will be providing your child with a Christmas orange and cookie.
More information will follow.

Good evening EICS community,
As you are aware, on November 24th, Premier Kenney announced a State of Public Health Emergency that outlined restrictions upon schools throughout Alberta. Effective November 30th, Grade 7-12 students will be moving to online learning from home until January 11th. As you can appreciate, we are working diligently to make this transition successful.
Students in Grades 7-12 will be hearing from their designated schools and teachers over the next few days regarding this transition.
Programming for Kindergarten to Grade 6 students remains unchanged. They will continue in-class learning with all of the current COVID -19 health precautions in place at their designated school.
EICS busing routes will continue to operate as usual.
With the learnings that occurred last spring, we are feeling confident that this temporary transition to online learning will occur smoothly. All subjects for your Gr. 7 -12 students will be transitioning to online.
Whether your child is in Gr. 7-12, learning online from home, or in ECS to Gr. 6, learning in person in the classroom, support from the teachers, educational assistants, and other school and divisional level support staff remain available.
These changes have been implemented throughout the province so that all within society can remain safe. It is incumbent on all of us to adhere to all of the Alberta Public Health Order restrictions. This includes limiting social gatherings for your children both within and outside of school hours.
Please watch for communication from your school and/or child’s teacher over the next few days.
Our prayers are with those who are struggling with Covid as well as those experiencing hardship due to the closures that are occurring at this time.
God bless,
Shawn Haggarty
Superintendent
