The VEX IQ Robotics teams have both qualified for the middle school level of the VEX IQ State Championship event at J.M. Robinson on March 9. The students have been working for months on their robots, their driving skills and their programming to create very competitive robotics team. The teams take part in competitions in which they score points by controlling their robot with a remote, which they had to program to work with their robot. The points they earn from the driving portion of the competition are combined with the points their robot scores on its own as it runs through a set of programs that the students wrote for their robot. Our goal at the beginning of the season was to qualify for the state championship event. After they qualified the teams began to focus on their next goal, finishing in the top 10 at the championship. One teams has modified their robot to increase their chances, while the other team is focussed on improving programming and driving skills.
