Tiffanie Moore
What is it?
The Glorious Revolution was the overthrow if King James II by his son his law William who was married to his daughter Mary. This happened because of a serious of events that started with Oliver Cromwell. This all took place between 1688-1689.
Oliver Cromwell
Oliver Cromwell was the one who started the Glorious Revolution even though he was dead when it took place. He started the idea of the absolute monarchy by executing Charles I to become the ruler for awhile. This is what started people to think of the idea of overthrowing or executing and creating the ruling of what they want.
Charles II
Charles II was the ruler that overthrew Oliver Cromwell. He started the Restoration Period when he came into chair. He continued the idea of absolute monarchy but didn't like Oliver Cromwell. He had an opposition to Catholicism.
James II
James II inherited the throne after Charles II. He had many supporters called Tories. He was a Catholic King he started the ball for the Glorious Revolution. He tried to create absolutism in England.
William and Mary
William overthrew James II bloodlessly. They claimed they overthrew him for the Protestants sake. This is because he was Catholic and the two different groups ideas did not line up. William is the son-in-law of James II through his daughter Mary. This is where the actual Glorious Revolution began.
