The Superintendent's Corner

News from Dr. Kasun...

November 2015

In an effort to keep you more informed of the amazing things occurring in our schools, welcome to my first update - The Superintendent's Corner. Each month I will share information from our district and our Board Meetings and include presentations that show our efforts to ensure each child learns and grows every day!

In November, we opened STEAM Centers at both of our middle schools. At Barkalow, they were fortunate enough to receive a donation from the FTEF and work began over the summer. All students have visited and there is so much excitement and energy. The Center is a work in progress and a continuous journey to create a place where students can innovate, build, plan, create, prototype, collaborate, and learn skills needed for the 21st Century.

At Eisenhower, they've decided to get started on their own while awaiting a donor through the Foundation and their media center has been transformed! At their grand opening, students were invited to come with their science class to take part in various awesome design challenges. It is a welcoming space with wonderful stations to explore such as robotics, circuits and engineering challenges. We are proud of the work of all the staff involved in making these amazing spaces and we are thankful to the FTEF!

FTEF - Monte Carlo Night Success!

The Freehold Township Education Foundation would like to thank everyone who supported Monte Carlo Night on Friday, November 20th, at the beautiful Eagle Oaks Country Club. Almost 250 guests enjoyed a casino themed evening in support of excellence in education in Freehold Township schools. We are excited to see the transformation of the Barkalow Media Center taking shape and look forward to continuing to fund these innovative makerspaces in all of the elementary and middle schools in the district through our STEAM212 initiative.
