Wakeland Band family and friends-
I hope you enjoyed your weekend! Great job to the students involved in the Wakeland Jazz Bands! Both groups performed on Saturday afternoon at Frisco Arts in the Square and did a terrific job representing WHS.
Congratulations to the Wakeland Color Guard program. The Winter Guards completed their seasons on Saturday at the NTCA Championships at Coppell HS and Thomas Collesium. The Open Class Guard presented "M is for Mostly Mozart" and finished the season in 4th place with a score of 77.3!
Earlier on Saturday, the A class guard presented "The Giving Tree" and finished in 5th place with a score of 80.25!
The students did a wonderful job throughout the season in developing the shows and growing as student performers!
Congratulations to all WHS Guard students and staff on a terrific season! Your growth and artistry are truly amazing!

2017-2018 School Year Dates
As events and rehearsals get finalized for the 2017-2018 season, they are being posted on the band calendar. Please check out the dates coming up for next school year as you begin to plan testing and events.
Booster Association - Parent Survey
It is that time of year that the nominating committee is looking for volunteers for the 2017/18 school year. Please consider a board or co-chair position for next year. These positions do last the entirety of the school year even while they may not be actively working on something specifically.
While every position has a voting chair, we are in need of non-voting co-chairs for most positions. One person is unable to carry out their position without the help of others. If you are interested in being a co-chair for a certain event or position, please let us know. If you have a talent or special skills, we would like to know that too.
Please reply to Melinda Wemhoff at mwemhoff@sbcglobal.net or call 214-679-8307 if you have any questions about these positions. Please send response by Friday, April 7th to be considered for a board position.

This event is a semi-formal dinner/banquet with the sole purpose of honoring and celebrating the achievements of our current Band and Guard students. The only exception to the "no younger sibling" policy is if the younger sibling is a current Wakeland HS student not enrolled in the Wakeland Band.
Middle School/Elementary School (or younger) siblings are not permitted to attend.
As well, any High School-aged sibling is expected to sit on the “Adult Side” of the Banquet room.

The "non-Band HS Student or Adult" choice on the RSVP form refers to parents, alumni/older siblings, grandparents, or non-Band student dates.
Please note that any non-Band HS student date MUST go through an approval process with Mr.Smith & only those approved guest dates should be signed up to sit with the student.
