Thoughts...
I want to take this opportunity to let you all know how special your children are. I'm grateful and honored to be their teacher. Every once in a while, I catch a glimpse of the great man or woman they will someday become. Thank you for giving me such lovely children.
Math
We had a very busy week last week. We started off by reviewing for the Math Checkpoint. This short test (only 12 questions) covered decimal and whole number skills. On Thursday, the students went on a Reindeer Quest. Our room was covered in "snow" (white table cloths), and they worked with a partner to solve all the math problem clues. The best part was that I gave them all antlers to wear and had them find their reindeer names from the list I provided. So we had names like, Cookie Bon Bon and Glitter Cheeks Razzle Dazzle.
Science - Important project due Wednesday
We've continued our research on the Sun and the Moon with emphasis on physical characteristics.
Students started working on a fun project today. I've put the details in Google Classroom. They are to create a want ad or Facebook page related to either the sun or the moon. They worked on their "sloppy copy" here in class, and I told them they could continue working on it at home. They will start the final copy here in class and can finish it at home if they don't get done. The project is due on Wednesday.
I told them I want them to have fun with it, but I will also be looking for the science in what they present. They need to have at least 10 facts.
Christmas Tradition
On Friday, we turned our classroom into a movie theater and watched The Sound of Music while enjoying delicious hot cocoa (rich and chocolaty). I love telling them the story behind the movie, but most of all, I love giving them a chance to hear all the lovely music. The kids were wonderful!
