Snowflakes for the Storehouse & the Soul
We are very excited about our SNOWFLAKES FOR THE STOREHOUSE! Snowflakes can be purchased for 10 cents in front of the library every morning from 7:30-8:10 from Friday, December 12- December 18th . The student can then decide who to donate the snowflakes to and the teacher with the MOST snowflakes will earn the exciting privilege of wearing a Santa suit on Friday, December 19th . The money will be split between the Community Storehouse & Food For The Soul.
Career Day
Career Day is set for Friday, May 15th for all day! Please consider volunteering your time and sharing with our students your world of work! Contact me at jennifer.cowen@kellerisd. net to reserve your spot!
Each classroom is assigned one guest speaker and the students then rotate to hear each of the speakers assigned to their grade level. 2nd, 3rd, & 4th all have full days (morning and afternoon). Kindergarten & 1st have all morning and then usually 1-2 speakers in the afternoon. We will also need volunteers to donate drinks, desserts, and other items needed to make the day run successfully. Please consider helping out in some way. Thank you!
Guidance lessons this month
We are focusing on anger management across all grade levels. I have been teaching the students that it is okay to feel mad, but we can't hurt ourselves, others, or property. Instead, taking deep breaths, squeezing a stress ball, counting to 10, shaking a lava lamp (see recipe below), exercising, talking to a friend or listening to music are all great options to get that anger out!
Lava Lamp-- Fill the plastic bottle half way with hot water, and the rest with cooking oil Add food color and hot glue the lid shut. Optional: Add glitter or other trinkets to watch float through the lava
