Estacada High School
Teen Truth Assembly - May 2nd
On May 2nd, we will be hosting two assemblies - one for the 9th & 10th graders and one for the 11th & 12th grade students - with the goal of improving school culture.
TEEN TRUTH’s respect themed assembly works to teach students the importance of creating and respecting healthy boundaries, as well as the power of offering positive support to all students on campus.
Hosted by co-founder, JC Pohl, and motivational speaker, Michelle Jeovanny, this event will give students a broad view of the pressures they are under and valuable insight into the pain that disrespecting boundaries can cause, as well as motivate them to be the change in their community.
The bleachers in the balcony of the gym will be reserved for parents/guardians as well as community members in general. Please check in the office prior to heading into the gym
- 9th/10th grade Assembly 9:00am - 10:00am
- 11th/12th grade Assembly 10:15am - 11:15am
You can learn more about Teen Truth from their website https://teentruth.net/
State Testing for Junior Students in Mathematics Starting Next Week
Next week our junior students will begin to take their state tests for mathematics. State tests are only taken once during a student's high school career. The math test is broken into two sections: Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) and Performance Task (PT).
The estimated time it takes to complete the tests are:
CAT: 1:55
PT: 0:50
Total: 2 hours, 45 minutes
While these are estimated times, this is not a timed test and students can take as much time as they need.
For students who are unable to pass all of these tests showing proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics, they must show proficiency in these areas through an alternative option such as the SAT, ACT, Advanced Placement, GED (math only), or complete local work samples.

Host an International Student
Council On International Educational Exchange is looking for host families for three amazing students that will arrive in August for two semesters of American high school. They speak good English, have the appropriate visa, medical insurance, and their own spending money to cover personal expenses. Students will attend high school closest to their host family so they can take school transportation. A host family simply puts another plate on the table and welcomes them as one of their own!
Host families come in all shapes and sizes; retired, older children and younger children, single parents. Host families live in apartments and houses and students can share a room with someone of the same sex within 4 years of age. A person can choose to host for a few months or the school year.
Here are notes from some of our students:
Elisa is a 16 year old girl from Germany. I like being outside in the nature for going jogging, doing a boat trip or just for taking a walk together with my family and friends. Besides this I do ballroom dancing, give private tutoring for smaller children in Latin as well as being part of the handball group of our school. I wouldn’t mind at all if my usual activities would chance while I’m in the United States because I’m really open-minded for everything new and unknown and also extremely excited to discover life and traditions of my host family. I could imagine very well to bring typically European things like traditions and culture home to you for example in order to cook food according to old traditional recipes of my family if you wouldn’t mind.
Eliska is a 16 year old girl from Czech Republic. Dear host family, I love laughing, I´m very happy and cheerful person, I´m friendly, honest and active. I like snowboarding and I adore traveling. This is the reasone why I want to go to the U.S., but also becouse I would like to lern about their culture, families life, taste new dishes and make new friends. I stayed twice in the host family, in England and in Malta. I like to go to the theatre with my family and I like reading books. In future I would like to be delegate or animator.
Please help us in the search for host families by passing this information along to others. CIEE will thank you with $200 if you refer a family that hosts one of our students.
Go to www.ciee.org/hostapply to start your application or feel free to email or call me for more information.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you,
